Will The Real Superman Please Stand Up?
“The boy has got charisma!” is what most NBA fans would say about shining star Dwight Howard.
Always with a smile on his face, Howard finds humor in jump shots, slam dunks, and three-pointers. After using his humor in slam dunk contests, wearing the famous superhero’s red cape to games, Howard was given the nickname “Superman” by fans and spectators everywhere.
On the other side, we have Shaquille O’Neal, a player who has somewhat of an obsession with everything Superman, even going as far as embedding the famous symbol on his cars, houses, and even on himself (the Phoenix Suns star has it tattooed on his bicep).
Howard seems to play to the crowds with the entire thing, having fun and embracing the nickname, while Shaq has turned it into a battle for the title of the famed caped crusader.
How can one not laugh when Howard plays up to the Superman nickname?
It gives the fans something to laugh at. It gives us comedic entertainment in a sport that’s filled with fierce competition and heavy focus on the next big NBA star.
Shaq shouldn’t take it so serious. Shaq was once in Howard’s shoes. He used to be the young star for the Orlando Magic.
Everyone must get their time in the spotlight. It's OK, Shaq. It's all in fun. There’s enough room for everybody.
