Emirates Stakes Day 2013: Runners, Odds, Top Riders, Betting Tips and Racecard
Emirates Stakes Day brings down the curtain on Melbourne Cup Carnival week at Flemington Racecourse.
Designated as the family day of this popular annual meet, Emirates Stakes Day is a favourite of Australian racegoers due to its relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
With nine races filling out the day, however, it's still an exciting racing spectacle in its own right, featuring the blue ribbon $1 million Emirates Stakes race and the VRC Sprint Classic, famously won on two occasions by Black Caviar, who retired to stud unbeaten in 25 races earlier this year.

Boban is the horse making the headlines going into the day, having won four races on the trot including the Epsom Handicap and Moonga Stakes.
The favourite for the 4:45 a.m. Emirates Stakes has been bumped up the weights in order to race, bulking up from 53 kg to 57 kg. However, he must work hard against a competitive Group 1 field featuring Solzhenitsyn and Sacred Falls.
Trainer Chris Waller spoke about the difficulties faced by the horse, as reported by Ray Thomas of The Herald Sun:
"Boban is not creeping up in the weights, he has been smashed up. Basically, he went from a restricted Saturday win to running and winning a Group 1 (Epsom Handicap) on the minimum (53kg) to trying to win a Group 1 with topweight. He will go close.
"
