Philadelphia Eagles Flying High After Offseason Additions

Brandonq MilesMay 26, 2009

The 2009 Philadelphia Eagles have a lot to be proud of, despite the fact that it took until this Aprils' draft in order for Eagle fans to have something to cheer about.

Donovan McNabbs' request for some weapons on the offensive side of the ball was granted as the front office went out and landed the best left tackle on the market via trade (Jason Peters) to solidify a position that was left open after long time veteran Tra Thomas moved on to Jacksonville

Safety was also a big time need after the departure of the Eagle great Brian Dawkins, moved on after him and the team was unable to agree on years in a contract, along with Sean Considine. Sean Jones, Rashard Baker were both added by way of free agency to enhance a secondary that lost three or more players.

Then came the draft and voids still needed to be filled so with the 19th pick a pick in which the Eagles moved up to receive; they drafted Jeremy Maclin from the University of Missouri.

An explosive sophomore wide reciever with a bright upside, who also helped turn a college program into a power house in his tenure there. In the second round LeSean McCoy was drafted in order to help out the back field who struggled all 2008 in picking up short yardage.

With these additions just to name a few of the many, this years Eagles can expect to be at a similar situation; one that they faced a year ago and many in the 2000's.

A game or two from the Super Bowl this time with expectations of being there not just with miracles happining, and everything falling in the teams favor like what happened at the end of the 2008 season.
