Philadelphia Eagles Flying High After Offseason Additions
The 2009 Philadelphia Eagles haveย a lotย to be proud of, despite the fact that it took until this Aprils' draft in order for Eagle fans to have something to cheer about.
Donovan McNabbs' request for some weapons on the offensive side of the ball was granted as the front office went outย and landedย the best left tackle on theย market via tradeย (Jason Peters) to solidify a position that wasย left open after long time veteran Tra Thomas moved on toย Jacksonville.ย
Safety was also a big time need after the departure ofย the Eagle great Brian Dawkins,ย moved on afterย him and the team was unable to agreeย on years in a contract, alongย with Sean Considine. Sean Jones, Rashard Baker wereย both added by way of free agency toย enhance a secondary that lost three or more players.ย
Then came the draft and voidsย still needed to be filled so with theย 19th pickย a pick in which the Eagles moved up to receive; they drafted Jeremy Maclin from the University of Missouri.
An explosive sophomore wide reciever with a bright upside, who also helped turn a college program into a power house in his tenure there. In the second roundย LeSean McCoyย was drafted in order to help out the back field who struggled all 2008 in picking up short yardage.
With these additions just to name a few of the many, this yearsย Eaglesย can expect to be at a similar situation; oneย that they faced a year ago and many in the 2000's.
A game or two from theย Super Bowl this time with expectations of being there not just with miracles happining, and everything falling in the teams favor like what happened at the end ofย the 2008 season.ย
