Josh Cribbs to Report to Minicamp Under "Good-Faith"

Daniel WolfMay 26, 2009

According to The Plain Dealer, Josh Cribbs will be reporting to the Browns' voluntary minicamp on Tuesday May 26.

A text sent by Cribbs' agent said, "Josh Cribbs will report to practice on Tuesday."

"He is making this good-faith effort to show everyone just how important this is to him. We will continue to communicate with the Browns on a regular basis and we are optimistic that there will be a fair solution."

Cribbs and his agent are still waiting for meaningful dialogue with regards to a contract renegotiation and he did not attend the three voluntary practices last week at the Browns training facility in Berea, OH.

Cribbs did go to the training facility last Thursday, at the request of Eric Mangini, to attend a full-squad meeting and sit down with Mangini to talk one-on-one. Details of the sit down have not been made available to the public.

He was one of two Browns players to boycott last weeks minicamp. The other being kicker Phil Dawson, who may also want to redo his contract.

Cribbs' agent has publicly stated that if the Browns do not renegotiate his contract then a trade will be requested. He is looking for contract money equivalent to somewhere in between what Chicago's Devin Hester and Buffalo's Roscoe Parrish are making.

Having played all facets of the Browns' special teams and some offense over the past few seasons, Cribbs might also being playing in the defensive backfield during passing downs this upcoming season.

Now that Cribbs is attending practice, only time will tell is this will hurt or help the renegotiating process.
