Tyler BrookeNov 6, 2013

Matchday 4 wrapped up for the 2013 UEFA Champions League after Wednesday, and while there wasn't a whole lot of movement in the standings, there were still some pretty entertaining games.

Big wins from Chelsea, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona and Chelsea helped them stay on top of their respective groups, while there were some other exciting matches as well.  Now, we just have two matchdays remaining, so the top teams in these groups are hoping to hold on so that they can advance to the round of 16.

Let's take a look at the updated table for the Champions League after Wednesday, followed by a breakdown of the biggest games of the day:

Samuel Eto'o Leads Chelsea to Another Win

Chelsea was in a pretty tight race with Schalke 04 for the top spot in Group E, meaning that if the Blues were able to win, they could separate themselves at the top.

They did just that on Wednesday.

After the two teams went back and forth to start the match, Sameul Eto'o came up with a crazy goal.  Schalke 04's goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand made a critical mistake later in the first half to give Chelsea the 1-0 lead.

Later on, Eto'o came up with another goal in the 54th minute to give him two for the game.  The team's official Twitter account seemed more than happy with how the game was going so far.

The Blues went on to win thanks to those two goals from Eto'o along with another from Demba Ba, and they're still on top of Group E.  Not only that, but now they've separated themselves from Schalke 04 by three points, and that's great news for the rest of the group stage.

Arsenal Wins Wild One Over Borussia Dortmund

It wasn't the prettiest game, but Arsenal was somehow able to walk away with a big 1-0 win over Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund had the advantage throughout the game in shots, attempting 15 and getting three on goal.  Meanwhile, the Gunners attempted only four shots, but two of them were on goal.

The big issue all match for both teams was being offsides, as the two combined for eight offsides calls.  Dortmund had the worst one by far, having this goal called back on an offsides call.

The Gunners were able to score the only goal of the match in the 62nd minute, with Aaron Ramsey coming up with this huge goal that gave Arsenal the win.

Although Arsenal took fewer shots, they had better opportunities.  As you can see from this tweet by Squawka during the match, Dortmund didn't take the most ideal shots.

The loss for Dortmund keeps them in third in Group F, which is not where they wanted to be at this point.  Meanwhile, Arsenal continues to have an incredible overall season both in the Premier League and Champions League, staying on top of Group F with their third win in four matches.
