Offensive tackle Jonathan Martin has taken a leave of absence from the Miami Dolphins, the team confirmed. ESPN's Lisa Salters is reporting that he will miss the remainder of the season as he feels he can't return to the team.

The Dolphins announced plans to investigate the reported misconduct, including the actions of suspended offensive lineman Richie Incognito. Meanwhile, the NFL is conducting its own investigation into the circumstances behind Martin's exit.

Incognito opened up about his relationship with Martin to Jay Glazer of Fox Sports on Sunday, Nov. 10, claiming he had good intentions behind his actions.

Updates from Tuesday, Jan. 30

DeMaurice Smith spoke about Martin via Ben Volin of the Boston Globe:

De Smith says NFLPA received full cooperation from everyone with its investigation of the #Dolphins except for one person: Jonathan Martin

De Smith also chastises Martin's and Incognito's camps. "I don't think any good is being done when either side plays this publicly."

Andrew Abramson of The Palm Beach Post adds that while Martin may not be cooperating with the NFLPA, he is cooperating with the other investigation:

Martin participated in the NFL's independent investigation (Ted Wells) but would not take part in the NFLPA's investigation.
