Top Prospects and Preview
Arguably the top prospect in all of baseball, Byron Buxton, will feature in this contest. In 125 minor league games in 2013, the toolsy outfielder has hit .334 with 12 home runs, 77 RBI, 109 runs scored and a whopping 55 stolen bases.
His power will continue to develop, but it appears the rest of his game is coming along quite nicely.
Albert Almora of the Chicago Cubs organization broke a bone in his hand during Spring Training and thus hasn't featured as often as Buxton, but he's one of the jewels of a promising Cubs farm system and will be fun to watch in this game.
Another elite Cubs prospect, Jorge Soler, will also feature in this game. Signed by the team out of Cuba, Soler's raw power and complete skill set will make him a player to keep an eye on.
Sticking with the outfield theme, Mason Williams of the New York Yankees' organization is a top-50 prospect in baseball and plays a mean center field. Don't be surprised if he makes a slick catch or two in the outfield.
One of the top young shortstop prospects in the game, Addison Russell of the Oakland Athletics, will man the position for the East Division. Reed has hit the ground running in the 2013 season, with a .269 average, 17 home runs, 60 RBI, 86 runs scored and 21 stolen bases in 110 games.
Don't expect to see the truly elite pitching prospects in baseball in this game. Top pitching prospects such as Taijuan Walker, Archie Bradley and Jameson Taillon won't be appearing in this contest, but prospects such as Marcus Stroman, Eduardo Rodriguez and Kyle Crick are definitely worth seeing in action, among others.
