WWE 2K14 Review: Analyzing Options Available in Universe Mode
The Universe mode is a major piece of the experience in WWE 2K14. The mode is the equivalent to franchise modes in other sports video-game series. No other mode offers as much long-term enjoyment.
In this year’s game, there are some key additions that make the mode even more enjoyable.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Sometimes in the past, Universe mode seemed to hold gamers hostage in forcing them to play through predetermined feuds of varying lengths. This year, the Universe is yours to control. You can customize any rivalry between any two Superstars or Divas you like.
Not only do you get an opportunity to control the principles in the feud, but you can now also control the length of the war. This is key in giving gamers the most control over the experience.
Stat Tracking and Rankings Return
Many fans may not have recognized this in previous years, but there is a wealth of stat tracking available within the mode. Gamers can still see stats like current ranking, records on specific shows, longest title runs and other information.
We don’t often think of statistics when it comes to professional wrestling, but it is always a nice wrinkle to add.
King of the Ring Tournaments
For the first time, gamers can now put King of the Ring Tournaments in their Universe. Having the ability to play a full 16-man tournament in a pay-per-view or weekly show is great.
The game also includes Gold Rush tournaments, which is essentially a King of the Ring tournament with the winner taking home a title. It would ideal if you could use Gold Rush in Universe mode, but there is a workaround.
You can use multiple King of the Ring tournaments in one show to get the same effect. It isn’t perfect, but it still works. The video below demonstrates the options and shows how to perform the King of the Ring/Gold Rush workaround.
