Notre Dame will Win Over All, Despite the "Haters"
I always find it amusing that if someone has the audacity to suggest Notre Dame has done something positive or will do something positive, the "haters" will cry out. I will hear how Notre Dame supporters are arrogant, living in the past or just plain living in denial. It is interesting how much positive and negative passion this team generates.
I recently wrote an article that stated Notre Dame will go undefeated in their regular schedule. The article clearly stated that the schedule was that much easier than other schedules were in the past. That is clearly to much progress for the "haters."
This is symptomatic for these people. In 2002, Notre Dame was undefeated late into the season and much talk was generated about a possible national championship. It was amusing to see the complaints generated by that possibility. Apparently, Notre Dame has to be satisfied with their current status.
Currently, Notre Dame has shown much progress with their skill position recruits. They have fast receivers, talented running backs and superior defensive backs. Their line play has been their weak point. Either it was a case of poor coaching, poor execution or a combination.
Personally, I feel that the proper choice was made during the off season. The play on the field was an inconsistent running game and lack of effort in late quarters last year. This is the year for coach Weiss to show what he is can do on his own, with his own players.
The only criticisims I can see now for Coach Wies is that his teams seem to fade in the second half and that people are not held accountable. I have seen to many leads fade away and to many missed blocks leading to negative plays.
That is what I expect to see changed in 2009. Once that is done, I think everything else will fall into place. There is nothing the "haters" can say about that.
