Hawks Clip the Wings

GoucheMay 23, 2009

Detroit Red Wings were somewhat disorganized, and off their stride, in the opening 10 minutes of their game against the Chicago Black Hawks, on Friday night. The Hawks’, Patrick Sharp tips one in at 8:45 and one minute and five seconds later, Andrew Ladd quickly has the Hawks ahead 2-0. The Hawks looked loose and determined and kept most of the action in Detroit’s end. Niklas Kronwall cranked Martin Halvat at 13:08 and received an interference (major) and a game misconduct.  The severity of Kronwall’s penalty has been disputed by some, as well as a couple of commentators. Myself, I saw Havlat’s head down, and not prepared for the encounter. The Red Wings took five penalties in the first, including a double minor to Dan Cleary. Sammy Pahlsson tips one in 45 seconds into the second, to give the Hawks a 3-0 lead. I believed the game– was just about over;  but all of a sudden Detroit comes alive with 5 minutes left in the period. Nikolas Lidstom scores, Brian Rafalski’s wrist shot finds the mark, and Jonathon Ericsson tips one in, to tie the score 3-3. The loud and excited fans were shocked and stilled. Nakolai Khabibulin was replaced by Cristobal Huet due to an injury, ( I have yet to hear the extent of the injury. There were no goals scored in the third, but from my point of view (maybe questionable) the Hawks were dangerous in the dying minutes, and I felt they were fortunate to come out with the tie. Then Patrick Sharp’s goal (his second of the game) at 1:52 put a quick end to the over-time, and the Chicago Black Hawks are now back in it even though Gouche was quoted after game two on “Off the Record” that the Hawks were done! Gouche, Momma knows better, I told you my Hawks are taking this series longer. Hawks only one game down and game four is at home..Momma Gouche
