Barcelona vs. Real Madrid Betting Odds Preview, Prediction

OddsShark.comOct 21, 2013

The match is called El Clasico and with good reason since it has produced many classic encounters in the world's biggest club rivalry.

Barcelona host Real Madrid Saturday, looking to extend thier unbeaten run in La Liga action while dumping its bitter rivals further behind them in the league table.

Barcelona have not lost all season in league play and are the home favorite in this match. However, they suffered their only draw of the season in their last match when they were heavy road favorites in the 0-0 final at Osasuna.

Barcelona was posted at -125 at most sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com early in the week, with Real Madrid as the big betting underdog at +333. The draw line was hovering around +275.

Last season Barcelona won the La Liga title, but they did not have much luck facing Real, who currently sit in third place in the league table.

In the El Clasico league matches, Barca lost one match and played to a draw at home, lost in the Super Cup, and lost to Real in the semifinals of the Copa del Rey.

Not only has Barcelona’s offense scored the most goals in league play, but they have also conceded the fewest.

There is no lack of offensive firepower in this match, as Barca’s Lionel Messi and Pedro have combined for 13 goals. Real’s Cristiano Ronaldo and Isco have found the back of the net a combined 12 times.

Both teams play an attacking style and Real have to try to disrupt the constant ball control game of Barcelona and pounce on any mistakes the home team make.

Barca’s defense has been stellar as of late, as they have three clean sheets in their last five matches.

The El Clasico rivalry began in the 1930’s with major political undertones and has since been a HUGE match between two clubs that simply do not like each other.

Both teams have Champions League fixtures this week with Barcelona on the road to face AC Milan on Tuesday and Real Madrid hosting Juventus on Wednesday.
