Fantasy Football: Don't Give Up on the Houston Texans' Defense

I know Houston Texans fans, and their fantasy owners, are disappointed with the five-game losing streak that they are riding heading into next weekโ€™s bye.

This week was the first week that they held their opponent to under 20 points. There is no such thing as moral victories in the NFL, but they do exist in the fantasy football world.

The Texans allowed 17 points and 357 total yards while recording a pair of sacks and forcing a pair of turnovers. All in an it wasnโ€™t a terrible day in the defense.

The Texans have a very favorable schedule coming out of next weekโ€™s bye, highlighted by a pair of games against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags are one of the worst football teams ever assembled. Houston should enter those games as the top-ranked fantasy football defense.

They also face the Arizona Cardinals and Oakland Raiders, which should produce two solid fantasy performances.

Itโ€™s not all smooth sailing though. You probably want to hold off on the Texans coming out of their bye in Week 9 as they face the Indianapolis Colts. Youโ€™ll likely feel the same way in Week 13 as they take on the New England Patriots.

The last time you will likely use the Texans is in Week 14 against the Jaguars. That should be a great way to finish you season with them in the opening week of most fantasy playoffs. In Weeks 15 and 16 they face the Colts again and the Denver Broncos.

Looking ahead to Week 15, you could look to replace the Texans with the Buffalo Bills as they face the Jags. The Tennessee Titans face the Cardinals, which makes them an attractive alternative. Tennessee plays the Jags in Week 16 so they could really be useful.

With their bye week coming up, donโ€™t be tempted to give up on the Texans. They have plenty of fantasy value left.
