Denver Nuggets: Freak Show Or No Show?

Dallas LeavellMay 22, 2009

The Denver Nuggets have wrapped up a three point win over the illustrious Los Angeles Lakers, and as a Nugget fan I ask now what?

The Denver Nuggets have tied this Western Conference Finals 1-1. This can be viewed as an achievement, or a just another step for Denver in becoming the team they have been for some four or five years.

The Nuggets never had any type of on court leadership to take them further than their first round talent led them. All of their first round bye-byes lead many people to think that they would never be an elite team. These losses finally took a toll on their front office who saw a team that had a point total out of this world, but also a points against total out of this world.

I, along with many others, contribute the Nugget's turn around to Chauncey "The Saving Grace" Billups. He is no longer known for solely for making big shots in the playoffs, but also for turning a juvenile detention center into a possible Western Conference champion.

Carmello Anthony is awesome when he is angry and willing to fight for every possession, but Allen Iverson (with as much talent as he had) could not get Mello to focus on the team. I don't know if Chauncey has changed Mello or if maybe it was his stint in China, but something has lit a spark under him, and it is accelerating his team to new heights

We all knew this was possible, but have not seen Carmello contribute like this since he was drafted out of Syracuse after an unbeleivable season with them.

What now though? Can Mello Man, with his grin from ear to ear, take us to the finals, or will Kobe and "Lil Baby" Gasol elevate their game?

It all depends on wether the Lakers can get some smelling salts for Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum to wake them up so they realize they are in the Western Conference Finals and not in a dream about Kobe taking them to a championship.

All I know is if the final buzzer sounds and the Lakers have to watch the final series from  a couch, I won't be answering calls the next morning, or going to work. Also I don't spend my life on the world wide web, so don't be offended if I don't answer your debate points. Pese to yol an gud forchins.

Go Nuggets. Nuggets are golden!
