Jordan Reed's Instant Fantasy Reaction After Week 7

Many questions surrounded the Washington Redskins heading into Week 7 against the Chicago Bears, but not many were bigger than the confusing status of tight end Fred Davis, who was inactive for the game.

Interestingly enough, the star tight end was a healthy scratch from the game, according to Mike Jones of the Washington Post:

By the time the game concluded, it was apparent why the Redskins did not hesitate to keep Davis inactive—rookie Jordan Reed.

The former Florida Gator had a coming out party of sorts in Week 6 with four receptions for 58 yards, but that pales in comparison to what Reed did Sunday against the Bears.

Reed was the highest-targeted player on the Redskins offense as he hauled in nine receptions for 134 yards and one touchdown.

Clearly quarterback Robert Griffin III's favorite target, Reed is in for a healthy dose of fantasy production each week from here on out. The 6'2" rookie is similar to Joseph Fauria in Detroit—he has worked his tail off until given the opportunity, and now he is running away with it.

From a football perspective, Reed is showing flashes of what made former fellow Gator Aaron Hernandez great, as apparent with his touchdown off a goal-line fade. The last three weeks, Reed is averaging six catches and over 80 yards per game.

As of now, Reed is nothing more than a No. 2 tight end in all leagues until he can prove this performance was not a fluke. Reed should be owned in all leagues and is worthy of a start given the proper matchup until further notice. He has a lock on the starting job in Washington.
