Game over. The Miami Dolphins lost to the Buffalo Bills in a heart-breaker that ended with a failed Hail Mary pass in the end zone.
Former Dolphins place kicker Dan Carpenter was handed an opportunity to beat his old team. He did not fail to capitalize.Dolphins return man Marcus Thigpen played the part of a hero with a big kick return following the field goal. The Dolphins needed the return to have any chance at getting within field goal range with only 33 seconds remaining after Carpenter's field goal. Miami did not have any timeouts remaining.
However when put in an obvious passing situation, the Dolphins pass protection showed its warts. The Bills plastered Miami's receivers in coverage and the pass protection could not hold up long enough for Tannehill to create any extended play opportunities.
The loss drops the Dolphins to 3-3, half a game ahead of the Bills at 3-4. With the officiating-assisted surprise victory of the Jets over the New England Patriots, the Dolphins now find themselves ranked third within the AFC East division.
