Michael Vick's Biggest Cheerleader

Although he doesn’t want Michael Vick playing on his team, Falcon’s owner Arthur Blank is rooting for Vick to get reinstated to play in the NFL. Why you ask? Well, there are three reasons in particular.

One reason that Blank is rooting for Vick is because of the money Vick owes back to the team. In order for Blank to re-coup any of the money he lost on Vick’s contract Vick has to sign another one with another team.

Of course Vick will never get anything close to the $160 million contract he signed with the Falcons, but he may make enough for Blank to get back some of the signing bonus he lost to Vick.

He certainly won’t get anything back if Vick is confined to working construction.
Although Vick will always be known for his time in a Falcons jersey, I know Blank would love it if some other team were forced to answer questions about Vick.

Until Vick finds another team, the controversies surrounding him will continue to be associated with the Falcons. The Falcons can never truly move on until Vick does.

Blanks final motivation for wanting Vick reinstated is that he may possibly receive some sort of compensation for him moving on to another team.

The league (or another team) could possibly reward Atlanta with a pick (probably a low one, but hey a pick is a pick). If Vick can be moved, Blank will want him reinstated soon so he will not be too old to make a comeback.

If Vick can still make a significant contribution to another team, then he may still hold value. The Falcons will definitely make an attempt to get something for him.

Vick is home from prison now, so the speculation about when or if he will be reinstated is going to remain a distraction for Blank and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell until it is resolved.

Blank is going to pressure Goodell to make a decision soon so that Vick can be moved and the Falcons can put this situation to rest.

Until this thing is resolved, be on the look out for Blank and his pom-poms.
