NFL Week 7 Picks: Projecting Winners of Most Lopsided Matchups

Daine PavloskiOct 15, 2013

After a rousing Week 6 in the NFL, coaches and players will attempt to regroup and prepare for an equally exhilarating Week 7. As teams travel and prepare for another big week, there are only four games on the docket with a spread of more than seven points, according to ESPN.com.

Let's take a look at the most lopsided games in the NFL in Week 7.

Green Bay Packers vs. Cleveland Browns

The Green Bay Packers are coming off a huge victory over the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens and are looking to make it three wins in a row as they take on the Cleveland Browns in Week 7. The Packers are favored by 12 points, the most lopsided spread this week, and for good reason. The Packers look good.

That is, unless you look at the injury report. The Packers are having massive injury issues, most notably with James Jones, Randall Cobb and Clay Matthews.

Even with a bevy of injuries, the Packers have managed to beat the Lions and the Ravens and are favored by 12 over a Cleveland team that just snapped its three-game winning streak. The Browns have really turned it on since losing Trent Richardson, beating Cincinnati, Minnesota and Buffalo before losing to the Lions in Week 6. They have a defensive unit that is ranked in the top 10 in both passing and rushing yards allowed per game.

Unfortunately for the Browns, they don't have the offense to back up the defense.

The Packers offense, even without Randall Cobb and James Jones, is still a top-tier offense, showing in Week 6 that it was capable of beating a good team even when Aaron Rodgers and his boys were struggling. Pairing the beat-up but resilient Packers offense with its ridiculous defense spells bad news for the upstart Cleveland Browns.

PREDICTION: Green Bay 24, Cleveland 7

San Diego Chargers vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

The San Diego Chargers haven't been anything special this season with losses to teams like Oakland and Houston, but they'll head into Week 7 as nine-point favorites over the 0-6 Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags made things semi-interesting against the Broncos in Week 6, but even then they still lost by 16.

San Diego isn't the best team in the AFC by any meansheck, the Chargers aren't even the best team in the AFC Westbut Philip Rivers by himself could probably pull off a victory against the Jaguars. The Jags aren't terrible defensively with the 14th-best pass defense in the league, but Rivers leads the third-best passing offense in the NFL and is simply too good for the Jaguars defense.

Jacksonville's offense, unfortunately, is that bad. It is in the bottom 10 in both passing and rushing, and the unit is going to have a hard time keeping up with the Chargers in Week 7, but let's not forget the Jaguars' impressive performance against the Broncos in Week 6, which could earn them a few big plays against the Chargers.

PREDICTION: San Diego 21, Jacksonville 17

Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins

The Bills, at 2-4. and the Dolphins, 3-2, might not seem like that much of a mismatch, but the Dolphins are eight-point favorites against the Bills in Week 7. The Dolphins are mediocre offensively with a rough rushing attack and aren't anything too impressive on the defensive side of the ball, but they have managed to rack up big wins against Cleveland, Indianapolis and Atlanta.

The Bills have a nonexistent passing game with major quarterback issues but have an extremely productive rushing attack thanks to C.J. Spiller and Fred Jackson. The running attack for the Bills is strong, but without a solid option under center, they'll fall prey to Miami in Week 7, but at least they'll cover the spread.

PREDICTION: Miami 13, Buffalo 10
