Response to Jerry West

Adrain ParkerMay 21, 2009

Jerry West decided to take it upon himself to inform the world that LeBron James is better than Kobe. Bryant.

This is a humble fan’s response…

Jerry, LeBron is indeed knocking on the door of Jelly-bean Bryant’s son's house, but until he wins a title, endures the hate, and plays in a major market where every move he makes is scrutinized, I am sticking with Kobe Bean Bryant as best player on the planet.

Kobe came in the league at age 17, sat on the bench for two years, endured ridicule from the greatest center of the modern era and still kept his head locked on what he needed to do to get better.

LeBron, however, was given the keys to a franchise in a small market town, allowed to be the man from day one, make all the mistakes that young players will make coming into the league, and learn by watching Kobe Bryant

Kobe didn't help himself with the Colorado incident, but c'mon, he was hated on prior to that ever happening because of the greatest center on the planet had it out for him.

Imagine this, if you will, you’re 17 again (lol...movie reference) and someone older is giving you crap for about two years.

What happens when you have endured this for that amount of time?  Most males will either hit back (verbally or physically) or be considered a punk if they don't.

Well, Kobe hit back, and the greatest center of all-time couldn't handle this kid stealing some of his light. No longer having to take the crap, this kid we have all watched grow up was showing the world he had a game similar to Mike's (no last name required).

Without him, what happens? The Lakers lose to Indiana in the Finals!

Kobe can score 35 pts a night without trying, but when he does it, he is a ball hog. LeBron does it, and he is a team guy.

Kobe had numbers that were comparative with Michael Jordan's.  Twenty five points, five to six rebounds, and four to five assists a game are not bad numbers, but give him those first two years back and allow him to showcase his game as the man in a small town, and Kobe Bryant's sitting on 28,000-29,000 points in year 12 of his NBA career.

LeBron might do better when it's all said and done, but Kobe Bryant is the best until he decides to hang up his shoes for this fan and many others!
