Jeff Green Jumps over D.J. Augustin, Blocks His Shot
Whatโs worse than having your shot spiked out of bounds like a volleyball? Being jumped over, and then having your shot spiked out of bounds.
This is precisely what happened to D.J. Augustin during Tuesday nightโs preseason game between the Toronto Raptors and theย Boston Celtics. The Raptors point guard found himself in a fast-break situation with one man to beatโor so he thought.
Augustin was attempting to cross over Bostonโs Kelly Olynyk on his way to the rim, but hadnโt accounted for a trailing Jeff Green, who leapt up and over the Toronto guard as he attempted an off-balanced floater.

The result was total domination. Green cleared the 6โ0โ Augustin easily and swatted his shot like a volleyball player going for the kill.
Footage of the ugly incident was spotted by John Ferensen of Next Impulse Sports, who also provides us with a lovely GIF of Green leaping over Augustin.ย
Augustin appears to catch a glancing blow from Greenโs undercarriage and also mightโve smacked his head on the forwardโs left leg. Augustin was able to get up and appeared to be OK, although thereโs no word on whether or not the ball survived.
All jokes aside, it was a freaky moment of athleticism and an excellent example of hustle. All of these players have secured a spot on their teams' rosters, and things were rather physical for a preseason game.
The Raptors would go on to win 97-89, and Green (along with Kris Humphries) hit the treadmillsย after the game to work on their conditioning for the fast-paced, hard-grinding season ahead, as per Jay King of MassLive.com.
Thatโs dedication. Running full court and jumping over another human being takes endurance, and Green understands that.
