Tony Gonzalez Doesn't Want Falcons to Trade Him Following Julio Jones' Injury
Before the rumors swirled out of control about a possible comeback to the Kansas City Chiefs, Atlanta Falcons tight end Tony Gonzalez reached out to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer saying he wants to stay put. On Tuesday, Glazer spoke to the future Hall of Famer on the phone and relayed their conversation via Twitter:
For what it's worth, Chiefs cornerback Brandon Flowers told Fox Sports Radio's Bill Reiter (6:30 mark of audio), via Terez A. Paylor of the Kansas City Star, he would love to add Gonzalez to the roster.
""That would be all the way up to Tony Gonzalez if he wants to come back to Kansas City," said Flowers, who was Gonzalez's teammate in 2008. "I'd love to have him back here. That's one of the guys, he was definitely a pro. He definitely taught me how to be a pro in this locker room. He's just a great guy to have on your team. You can ask anybody that ever played with him. So I would welcome him back with open arms."

The reason such a discussion is even taking place is because of the unfortunate news out of Atlanta regarding one of the team's best players, Julio Jones.
Earlier Tuesday, Glazer sent out another tweet that shocked the football world:
Later on Tuesday, Falcons coach Mike Smith confirmed the news, per Glazer:
With the Falcons sitting at 1-4 and losing Jones, one of the game's best players regardless of position, reporters in Kansas City began asking the 5-0 Chiefs about a possible reunion with Gonzalez. He spent the first 12 years of his Canton-bound career in Kansas City before joining the Falcons in 2009.
It doesn't sound like Chiefs general manager John Dorsey is willing to part with draft picks for 11 games of Gonzalez, per Craig A. Brenner of 810 WHB:
Dorsey didn't completely shut the idea of a Gonzalez return, though, telling Paylor, "No, it's not a no. We have to analyze each situation. That's kind of what that is."
Playing in the final year of his decorated career, Gonzalez deserves the privilege to determine where he finishes out the season. Moving to an undefeated team like the Chiefs might sound appealing, but following Monday night's 30-28 defeat to the New York Jets, Gonzalez told ESPN.com's Vaughn McClure he still believes in the Falcons.
With the news about Jones' injury, it sounds like they are going to need him now more than ever if they have any hope of getting back to the postseason and giving Gonzalez one last shot at a championship.
