Former NFL running back Ricky Williams has found a way to grab more headlines by opening up about his past with marijuana.

Many have wondered if his use of pot kept him from reaching his full potential. In an interview with Campus Insiders, via Eric Edholm of Yahoo! Sports, the 36-year-old addressed that subject.

"I don't agree that it was an Achilles heel, I kind of think of it was more like spinach for Popeye," Williams said.

He played for three teams in his 11-year career and was one of the best backs in the league in his prime.

Williams has always had interesting quotes, but this one is certainly near the top of the list.
