In a statement released Monday, Oct. 7 afternoon on USC's official website, the university claims to have been alerted of two people falsely representing themselves as members of the search committee to court potential candidates while searching for a new head coach following Lane Kiffin's termination in September. Steve Sarkisian has since been appointed USC's new head coach.

Updates from Tuesday, Dec. 10

NBC News' Andrew Blankstein reports the unauthorized individual previously making prank calls to coaches on USC's behalf has been found and arrested:

Kenneth Edward Tarr, 32, was booked Monday morning on suspicion of felony eavesdropping by LAPD Hollywood Division detectives for recording phone calls with sports figures without their permission, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s booking records and LAPD officials. Under California law, it is illegal to record someone without their consent.
