Feature Interview: 10 Questions for Bills RB Marshawn Lynch

Samuel Bell JrMay 20, 2009

Entering the summer of 2009, the Buffalo Bills have commanded more attention and excitement than they have since the 1999 season when they made the Wild Card playoffs.

Expectations are high as ever, as the Bills teased the fans with a 5-1 start last season before Trent Edwards was blindsided.

Marshawn Lynch is an integral part of the Bills offensive attack, which only finished in the top-20 of one major offensive category, rushing.

Lynch ran for 1,036 yards and eight TDs on 250 carries last season, his second consecutive 1,000 yard season.

Marshawn has been an extremely hard-to-tackle, slippery back who has combined speed and power to fuel his all-pro rushing attack, and his first round selection has certainly been justified so far.

Recently, Lynch ran into some legal issues, starting with his hit-and-run case that occurred in May of 2008 that has since been resolved.

Three days after he appeared in the Pro Bowl, Lynch was found to be in possession of a loaded gun in California, and was served probation and a three game suspension at the hands of NFL commish Roger Goodell's PCP. (Personal Conduct Policy)

Lynch is currently appealing, but the star RB isn't expected to get the suspension rescinded.

With that said, the Bills presumably have to go forward without their No. 1 back behind Edwards. Will they sustain a viable rushing attack?

Will defenses respect Fred Jackson, Buffalo's substitute for Lynch?

We'll ask Lynch those and other questions as we pick his brain for an interview that talks about football and his 20 interception career that nobody talks about.

10. You were a player of many positions in high school at Oakland Tech. You reportedly amassed 20 INT's as a defensive back and three forced fumbles in one game as a defensive end. What ultimately made you choose to be a running back?

9. Roger Goodell suspended you for three games under his personal conduct policy. Do you feel that your behavior warranted that punishment, or that the policy may be a little unfair?

8. Do you believe that Fred (Jackson) will be able to fill-in effectively for you while you're on suspension, assuming it holds up, or will Trent (Edwards) have to pass too much?

7. You've probably had this question burn in your brain by now, but how do you feel about the signing of controversial WR Terrell Owens?

6. How much do you feel Owens can help this team, and are you worried about any potential conflicts or problems in the locker room with Owens?

5. Your teammate Lee Evans doesn't get the attention he deserves. Do you feel that the arrival of Owens will further deflect attention from Lee, or will the combination of the two be what Lee needed?

4. Dick Jauron has caught heat recently for Buffalo's play. Is it deserved, or is Jauron simply misunderstood and not the right person to place blame on?

3. How do you feel about the Bills defense entering the 2009 season?

2. Will the Buffalo Bills be a playoff team in 2009?

1. I always wanted to ask a NFL player, do you guys really care about your ratings in Madden NFL football games?

Hopefully I will actually get a chance to ask these questions of the Pro Bowl RB Marshawn Lynch, as he and the Bills embark on a mission in 2009 to steal a playoff berth and maybe even a Super Bowl appearance.

As the New York Lottery says, "Hey, you never know."
