Who Was the Core Performer for the Indians vs. Rays Wild Card Game?
In the one-game AL Wild Card, it was the Tampa Bay Rays who came away victorious in a tightly contested ballgame. Although they had their chances, the Cleveland Indians just could not get a runner across home plate and fell 4-0.
Plenty of players came up big, but who came up the biggest and deserves to be called the core performer of the game?
Alex Cobb
Cobb threw a gem, going 6.2 innings, scattering eight hits and allowing no runs while striking out five. He got himself out of multiple jams and totally shut out the Cleveland offense.
Desmond Jennings
Jennings gave the Rays breathing room with a two-out, two-run double in the fourth inning, making the score 3-0. He went 2-3 in the game.
Delmon Young

Young started off the offense for Tampa Bay. He got their first hit of the game in the third, which just so happened to be their first run, with a solo shot to left.
Justin Masterson
The Indians needed someone to come in and stop the Rays from scoring and give themselves a chance to come back. Even though Cleveland couldn't complete the comeback, Masterson did his part. He threw two scoreless innings, struck out two and displayed a nasty slider.
