5 Burning Questions Facing the Philadelphia Eagles

A season which has grown progressively worse for the Eagles has left us with more questions than answers so far.

When the answers are running short, questions are all we have. That's where we're at now with the Philadelphia Eagles a quarter of the way through the 2013-14 season.

This means it's time for another burning questions column.

The most common in-game questions from fans during the Birds' latest debaclesuch as, "What the hell was that?" "Are you kidding me?" and "Is this over yet?"have been omitted for their obvious rhetorical nature.

As always, feel free to provide the "answers" in the comments below!

How Much Blame Should Be Placed on the Coaching?

Although personnel issues are aplenty, could any of this rough start to the year be placed at the hands of the coaching?

Didn't a delay of game penalty followed by a punt from inside the Broncos' 40-yard line reek of Chip Kelly coaching scared?

On the flip side, when the quarterback continuously throws it in the direction of where an outside linebacker is blitzing, does that reek of coaching predictably?

For much of last year, players were questioned about their heart. If that remains the case, doesn't that at least partly fall onto the shoulders of those they're playing for?

And is it me, or did DeSean Jackson seem to have plenty of energy to get into his weekly altercations with the opposition but not nearly enough to run full speed on plays not designed for him? Doesn't that come down to coaching, discipline and accountability?

What Happened to the Offense?

Why has the offense gone so quickly from brilliant and head-spinning to brutal and head-scratching?

Have teams already caught on to Kelly's schemes? Doesn't it seem like the play-calling has grown quite vanilla lately?

Wasn't the offensive line supposed to be the one unit we weren't supposed to worry about this season?

Given that the Eagles offense has been on the field for 47 fewer minutes than that of the opposition in the past three games, is it safe to say now that time of possession is not an overrated stat?

Is it also safe to say that Jeremy Maclin is missed? Immensely, even?

How Much Worse Can the Secondary Get?

Do we really want to know the answer to this question? Since the Eagles are only 31st in the league in pass defense and not 32nd, does that give us any indicator?

Is it frightening to know that Nate Allen may have been the best member of this unit against the Broncos?

Would it hurt to at least see what Colt Anderson can do with more time on the field? Since we know he can tackle on special teams, isn't there a chance it can translate over?

And, really? Nothing at all in the free-agent market better than this? Not even from a local flag football rec league somewhere in the greater Philly region?

Lastly, if Cary Williams is going to continue to get burned in coverage and miss tackles in the flat, can he at least be a little more committed off the field?

Could This Year's Eagles Draft Class Be Just as Bad as Recent Ones?

Wasn't Lane Johnson supposed to be an instant All-Pro ready to hit the ground runningand blocking, and not holdingfrom the get-go?

Shouldn't Zach Ertz have more than five catches and eight targets after four games, especially when Michael Vick is so desperate to find a second sure-handed, dependable receiver to take the pressure off Jackson?

Wouldn't someone like Jacksonville Jaguars safety Jonathan Cyprien look better in Eagles green right about now?

Why did they take a quarterback who slidperhaps for good reasonto the fourth round when no one seems to believe he is the future here? Could they really select a QB with a high pick in three consecutive seasons?

How Long Until Eagles Fans Lose Patience?

    Howard Smith-USA TODAY Sports

Will Chip Kelly get a mulligan this season regardless of how it turns out or is it more how the Eagles became 1-3 which irks most fans right now?

Is it a saving grace that the current record still puts them just a game out of first place in the undeniably worst division in the league?

Will any remaining goodwill go out the window if they lose to the 0-4 New York Giants next Sunday?
