Breeders' Cup Future Betting: Derby, Belmont Winner at 10-1 in Classic

Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Orb and Belmont Stakes (G1) winner Palace Malice are both listed at betting odds of 10-1 in future wagering for the $5 million Breeders' Cup Classic (G1), which will be contested at Santa Anita Park on Nov. 2.

Orb has lost three in a row since taking the Run for the Roses in May. In his last start, the colt was a close-up third in the Travers Stakes (G1) at Saratoga on Aug. 24, which was won by Will Take Charge, who came back to win the Pennsylvania Derby (G2) in his next outing.

Will Take Charge is also heading toward the Classic and is currently at odds of 12-1, according to BreedersCupOdds.net.

Palace Malice was the upset winner of the Belmont Stakes, returning $29.60 for a $2 wager, and then won the Jim Dandy (G2) in his next start. Most recently, the Todd Pletcher trainee was fourth in the Travers, just a nose behind Orb for third.

Orb and Palace Malice will take on older horses for the first time on Saturday, when they go in the $1 million Jockey Club Gold Cup (G1) at Belmont Park.

They will face the two-time defending champion of the race in Flat Out, who is currently 14-1 in early wagering for the Classic.

The Jockey Club Gold Cup is one of six stakes on the Belmont Park card that are Breeders' Cup “Win and You're In” races. The winner of each race earns an automatic starting spot in the corresponding Breeders' Cup race.
