Lions vs. Redskins: TV Info, Spread, Injury Updates, Game Time and More
Sure to be one of the NFL's marquee offensive displays of fireworks in Week 3, the contest between the Detroit Lions and Washington Redskins will have a lasting impact on both franchises.
For Detroit things are simple. After a 1-1 start with the most recent result being a frustrating home loss to Arizona, the Lions simply need a win to keep pace with the undefeated Chicago Bears in the NFC North.
Things are much more difficult for Robert Griffin III and the Redskins after an 0-2 start. Washington is already 0-1 in the NFC East, and an 0-3 start in the NFC would put a serious damper on the team's chances of returning to the postseason.

Will Washington's Defense Show Up?
It sounds so simple, yet the arrival or continued absence of the Redskins defense will decide the outcome of the game in a hurry.ย
So far Washington has one of the worst defensive units in football. The unit allowed Philadelphia running back LeSean McCoy to rush for 184 yards and a touchdown in Week 1. Little changed in Week 2 against Green Bayโbackup James Starks went for 132 and a score of his own.
Washington held strong against the pass in Week 1, giving up just over 200 yards, but Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers put that positive to bed with 480 passing yards and four scores last week.
All of the above is horrendous news for the Redskins with Matthew Stafford coming to town. Stafford has already thrown for 635 yards and four touchdowns in two games.
Stafford will have an easy time getting the ball to Calvin Johnson early and often if the Washington secondary does not make some drastic changes.
Prediction
As much as the odds look stacked in the Lions' favor, this is essentially a home playoff game for the Redskins with a potential 0-3 start looming.
The duo of Stafford and Johnson, not to mention the backfield of Reggie Bush and Joique Bell, will be difficult to stop and will find it simple to move the ball against the Redskins defense.
While the Detroit offense will do what it does best, RGIII and running back Alfred Morris can play ball-control football to keep Stafford and Co. off the field.
RGIII is still just getting back into the swing of things. Expect him to retain last year's form in a big way against Detroit with the rest of the season looming in the balance. He simply won't allow the Redskins to hit rock bottom at 0-3.
Final Scoreย
Redskins win 35-30
