Mayweather vs. Canelo Replay: Best Rounds to Watch from Epic Fight

Austin GreenJun 8, 2018

If you missed Floyd Mayweather's classic beatdown of Saul "Canelo" Alvarez on Saturday, don't fret. You can check out the full fight replay here, courtesy of Showtime Sports.

Mayweather cruised to a majority decision victory in the fight, winning by a final score of 114-114, 116-112, 117-111. It was a vintage performance from Money, who improved to 45-0 with the win.

Alvarez, meanwhile, lost the first fight of his career, dropping to 42-1-1.

It was a good fight overall, and although the entire bout is worth watching, the following rounds stood out.

Round 3

After both fighters started tentatively, the action began to pick up in the third round.

Mayweather connected with several blows to Canelo's face and, despite his defensive style, backed the bigger Alvarez into the corner. From there, Mayweather teed off, breaking Canelo's guard with his left hand and punishing him with the right.

To Canelo's credit, he recovered well from the flurry. After Mayweather made a rare lunging jab, Canelo landed a right uppercut. Unfortunately for the Mexican, it just glanced Floyd because of his unparalleled speed and instincts.

Round 7

This round was classic Mayweather.

It included my favorite moment of the night, when Floyd crushed Alvarez with a straight left-right combo, his placement perfect on both hits. Then, immediately after landing the right, Mayweather did a trust-fall into the ropes, letting Canelo throw off his own balance by sending a desperate blow into the air.

Mayweather continued to pummel Canelo throughout the round, landing a brutal right uppercut to the Mexican's chin before it was over.

Round 11

By this point in the fight, Mayweather was doing victory laps.ย

While he does display some fine skill in the round, this round is noteworthy more for Floyd's theatrics. With the bout clearly in hand, Mayweather began posing for the ringside photographers.

It was a vintage Money moment, as Mayweather reminded everyone that he is truly the best alive.
