Floyd Mayweather Injury: Updates on Boxing Star's Elbow, Likely Return Date
Floyd Mayweather's victory over Saul "Canelo" Alvarez may have looked uneventful, but it seems Money suffered an injury during his convincing win.
Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated broke the news with a quote from Mayweather:
"Mayweather: "I could have used more combinations down the stretch. I think I dislocated my[left] elbow."

Per Francisco A. Salazar of Boxingscene.com, Money says he injured his elbow in the second or third round:
""I feel like I dislocated my elbow in the 2nd/ 3rd round. I was still going for the KO." - @FloydMayweather #boxing #TheOne @MayweatherPromo
— Francisco A. Salazar (@FSalazarBoxing) September 15, 2013"
Mayweather did have a golden opportunity to knock out a stunned Canelo midway through the fight but was unable to do so.
In fact, it looked like Mayweather actually slowed down as Alvarez struggled to remain standing, which was a surprise considering Money was so close to ending the fight early.
The elbow may have prevented Mayweather from finishing Canelo off, but it certainly didn't stop him from dominating his opponent overall.
Vic Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle also pointed out that this isn't the first time Money has complained about elbow issues. The boxing legend also blamed his inability to knock Robert Guerrero out on his ailing elbow:
"Mayweather said he hurt his elbow and couldn’t go for knockout … (he also blamed injury for not knocking out Guerrero)
— Vic Tafur (@VicTafur) September 15, 2013"
This injury has the potential to sideline Mayweather for awhile, although it isn't known just how serious it is yet. Keep it right here for all the latest on Money's status.
