Andrew JordanMay 16, 2009

After a 0-0 draw with rivals Arsenal on Saturday at Old Trafford, Manchester United now have clinched their third straight Barclay's Premier League title as they will now finish with at least one more point than rival Liverpool. This is their 11th Premier League title since its inception in 1992, and their 18th overall championship in the top division in football.

In Saturday's game, Arsenal came out wanting to gain revenge over Man Utd after United demolished Arsenal 3-1 at the Emirates Stadium, and 4-1 on aggregate in the Champions League semi-final, which allowed United to go to the Champions League final in Rome on May 27, and Arsenal now had further disappointment to add onto for this disappointing season.

However, Ferguson made it clear to his men before the game even begun that they want to play a tight game with no mistakes to ensure the draw and another Premier League trophy for the trophy cabinet.

In the first half of the game, both teams played the game unlike any other recent game between the two rivals, as both teams had very little offense in the first half.

The best chance for Arsenal was Robin Van Persie's header on a cross from Andrey Arshavin in the 15th minute, but the header went over the bar.

Man Utd had two good chances, but Wayne Rooney headed a ball wide, and Ryan Giggs misfired on a shot near the goal by a long shot.

There were also two yellow cards in the first half, as Van Persie got one in the 33rd minute, and Arshavin got one in the 45th minute.

In the second half, the Gunners went after Patrice Evra early, as Cecs Fabregas and Samir Nasri both got booked for offensives on the French international.

As the game went on, in the 67th minute, Carlos Tevez left the Old Trafford pitch for possibly the last time as a Red Devil, as he got replaced for by Ji-Sung Park. As he left the pitch, he waved good-bye to all four corners of the stadium, and it appeared that he could be on the verge of crying after he went into the dugout.

Arsenal responded to this when Arsene Wenger put on Theo Walcott and Nicklas Bendtner are on for Samir Nasri and Andrei Arshavin in the 69th minute.

Ten minutes after that, Kieren Gibbs has picked got hurt enough to be replaced by Emmanuel Eboue, and almost immediately afterward, Alexandre Song Billong pushed down Cristiano Ronaldo, which caused him to be booked, and Arsenal's fifth booking of the afternoon.

As the game was heading towards its conclusion, Arsenal had one final good chance on a Van Persie free kick, but Michael Carrick knocked it away.

After a foul on the ensuing corner by Arsenal, Sir Alex Ferguson made his second change of the match as he took out Rooney and brought in Anderson, and Rooney received a huge standing ovation as he left the pitch.

One minute later, the final whistle blew, and Manchester United became the Barclays Premier League Champions again for the third consecutive season, and all of the players knew that they now have another Premier League title in the trophy case, and after their final Premier League game against Hull City next Sunday, they will now fully focus on the Champions League final on May 27 against Barcelona.

Finally, this was a great Premier League season for Manchester United, and they deserved to win the title yet again, and they know that they will now focus on a fourth straight title next season, and beat the record of 18 top division trophies away from Liverpool with a 19th League title next year.
