Manchester United has already seen its share of January transfer rumours this early in the season.

The Red Devils endured an underwhelming summer window, despite the deadline-day capture of Marouane Fellaini. That signing gives United some much-needed steel in the middle, but there's also the feeling that a little more creativity will help.

David Moyes may look to make a statement in January with a big move, so let's take a look at some of the latest January rumours.

Christian Benteke a Possible January Transfer Target

James Dickenson of the Express writes that Manchester United could make a move for Christian Benteke in January.

Aston Villa was able to hold on to its star striker this summer, but will continue to face a tough time holding on to him if he continues his good form. 

Manhcester United doesn't need another striker, with the likes of Robin Van Persie, Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck at the club, so this rumour will likely remain just that.

Ander Herrera Open to Future United Move

According to the Daily Mail, Ander Herrera may be open to a move to Manchester United in the future.

United missed out on signing the Spanish midfielder at the end of the summer window but, per the Daily Mail article, could return for him in January.

Herrera has been a consistent starter for Athletic Bilbao in recent seasons, and would be another excellent addition to the Manchester United midfield.

He is effective in both the defensive and attacking areas of the pitch, and is capable of playing a number of roles.

Leighton Baines to Be Targeted Again in January

Manchester United has been linked, via the Express, with a move for Leighton Baines in January. The Everton left-back played under Moyes before his former boss moved to Old Trafford.

With Patrice Evra ageing, and Alexander Buttner not totally convincing, Moyes may look to sign the England international.
