Interview Questions For Miami Dolphins Linebacker Channing Crowder

Evan DrexlerMay 16, 2009

Channing Crowder is a fifth-year linebacker for the Dolphins and finished second on the team in tackles last season. Here are questions I would ask him for a feature interview.

1) What language do they speak in Sydney?

2) Seriously though, do you ever get tired of interviewers bringing up your now-famous quotes about not knowing what language they speak in London?

3) Do your teammates give you a hard time about it?

4) How hard was it initially to convince people that you were joking when you made those comments?

5) Were those comments premeditated, or did you just come up with those jokes on the spot?

6) What did London Fletcher think of the shoutout? Have you talked to him about it?

7) You spent three years at the University of Florida, though you only played for two of them. After the 2004 season, you left for the NFL. After watching the Gators win the national championship in 2006, do you wish you had stayed for your full four years of eligibility?

8) Now that you're in the NFL, how closely do you keep up with your college team? Or is there no time to follow the Gators games?

9) How would you have liked to play with Tim Tebow, Brandon Spikes and Percy Harvin? Who in that group would you like to play with most, and why?

10) Which recent Gators national championship team do you like better: 2006 or 2008?

11) Is there still any connection between you and the Gators? Do you hear from the school ever? Do they ask you for money?

12) You're heading into your fifth season now. How hard was the first year of transition from college to the pros, and is there any transition you're still dealing with? What advice would you give to Percy Harvin, Louis Murphy and Cornelius Ingram (all Gators) as they enter their first year in the NFL?

13) What was it like replacing Zach Thomas in Miami, a player who was a fan favorite?

14) When you see someone like Joey Porter playing alongside you finishing with 17.5 sacks -- good for second in the NFL last season -- how does that inspire you to get better? Do you see yourself rushing the quarterback more this season?

15) You finished second on the team last year in tackles (92). But after four years, you still don't have an interception. Do you think about getting an interception? When you see  teammates getting a pick six, are you jealous, or are you just too busy celebrating a touchdown?

16) How bad was Brett Favre playing in that final game last season for the Jets?

17) 2007 was a rough year to be a Miami Dolphin, but then again so was 2006. After your rookie year when the Fins went 9-7, you were a part of just seven wins in the next two years. What was worse -- losing 15 games in 2007 or having the team drop off so dramatically from 2005 to 2006?

18) Your first taste of the NFL Playoffs came last season. How different was that for you, and how much worse did the loss to the Ravens hurt than any regular-season loss?

19) Can this Dolphins team realistically make it back to the top of the division this year, or was last year's turnaround based greatly on luck from an easy schedule?

20) You've had three different coaches in your four seasons in Miami. How much faith do you have in Tony Sparano to lead this team in 2009?

21) In a recent interview with the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, you said that born-again Dolphin Jason Taylor will be a great boost for the team. What has it been like the last few days since the Taylor announcement has been made?

22) How much will Taylor help Joey Porter on defense? And what about you?

23) Were you close to Taylor at all during the three years you were on the same team?

24) Whose pro-bowl season was more impressive? Jason Taylor's 2007 (11 sacks, 46 tackles) or Joey Porter's 2008 (17.5 sacks, 37 tackles)? Why?

25) Finally, what language do they speak in Toronto?
