Mayweather vs. Canelo Undercard: Watch Live Stream of Pre-Fight Press Conference

With all the hype for this weekend’s big event focused on Floyd Mayweather and Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, it’s easy to forget that this event will also feature one of the deepest undercards in boxing history.

Two world championship fights—one of which itself being headline worthy—and a crossroads bout between two welterweight contenders round out “The One” card and are sure to give fans more bang for their buck.

There’s little doubt that the stakes are high for everyone who will be on the stage today at the MGM Grand. Fighting on the undercard of the biggest event in the sport is a huge opportunity, and everyone involved will be looking to make a statement.

Danny Garcia and Lucas Matthysse are considered the two best junior welterweights in the world, and they will meet in the co-main event on Saturday.

Garcia, who holds the unified 140-pound title, emerged as a star last summer with an upset knockout victory over Amir Khan.

Matthysse is the most feared puncher in the sport. He’s knocked down every opponent he’s faced, and he earned his shot by nearly decapitating 140-pound belt-holder Lamont Peterson in May.

Ishe Smith finally captured championship gold by defeating Cornelius “K9” Bundrage this past February.

The 35-year-old champion was ready to give up on boxing, but then he signed a contract with Mayweather Promotions and cashed in on what was likely his last shot at glory.  

He’ll make his first defense against the rugged—and many believe avoided—Carlos Molina.

Molina is one of those fighters with a deceptive record, and he has more than enough to walk out of the ring as a world champion.

In the opening contest of the event, welterweights—badly in need of a win—Ashley Theophane and Pablo Cesar Cano will meet in a 10-round bout. Each man will be seeking a win to get their career back on track, but they both know a loss would devastating.
