Ring Rap With Matt: Smackdown Review (May 15th)

Hello everyone.As I always I thank you all for taking the time to read my gibberish.

Well kiddies, its Friday night and we all know what that means.Well for some it means doing something productive with themselves.

For people like me though it means its time for Friday night Smackdown.

We go right into action as Jr mentions judgment day.Out comes the Lizard king John Morrison.I guess Benjamin and Haas told Morrison to find someone to tag with.

Who can it be kiddies? Well we dont have to wait to long out comes mr strait edge himself CM Punk.

John Morrison and CM Punk vs The worlds greatest tag team

 (it was nice to say that again.)

They start this one feeling each other out .Punk hits the knee then makes the quick tag.Morrison starts to take control but is countered with a European uppercut.

He then tags in Benjamin but Benjamin gets hit with a neckbreaker .Morrison then tags in punk.They both nail the double elbow but Benjamin hits the jawbreaker on punk.

Benjamin tags in Haas but Haas gets brought down with a nice hammer take down.Punk goes for the pin but only gets a one.Haas tossed punk across the ring but then gets hit with a arm drag take down.

Punk goes for the  go to sleap on haas its reveresed .Benjamin comes in punk tries the same on him and gets the same results.

Haas and Benjamin are both drop kicked out of the ring by Punk and Morrison.We then go to commercial break.

We come back Morrison has Haas in a arm drag.Haas gets out and starts to hammer away on Morrison  .Benjamin then gets in a cheap kick while the ref was turned away.

Haas tags in Benjamin who follows up with a series of kicks on the lizard king. Benjamin, hits a nice neck breaker on Morrison. He follows up with a headlock but it is countered by Morrison.

Morrison then trys to jump over Benjamin to make the tag.He gets   caught he is then brought back to the other side of the ring.

Benjamin and haas follow up with some quick offense and quick tags.Benjamin, has Morrison in a type of camel clutch but Morrison powers out of it.

He then goes for a neck breaker but it is reversed .Benjamin is on the attack but he backslides Morrison in to punk so he can make the tag.

Punk goes in and cleans house for a bit. He  throws Benjamin to close to Haas and they make the tag.Haas scores a nice belly to belly and power slam for a near fall.

Haas stays in control and makes the tag to Benjamin.Benjamin hits a suplex and close line and tags in Haas.Punk is now in a headlock in the middle of the ring .He gets out though and tags Morrison.

Morrison goes on to clear the ring. He goes to the top Benjamin trys to get involved but is knocked down.Morrison then hits the corkscrew for the 3 count.

(What  a match to open up Smackdown that is all im gonna say.)

We come back to the ring  and Jericho is on his way out.He then reminds  us that judgment day is coming and that its the end of the world.

Had I known that I would have booked my vacation sooner thanks alot Jericho.

He goes on with his normal insults to the fans.He then  says their is  a conspiracy theory against him. That's right kiddies you, me, Teddy long and the popcorn vendors .We are all out to get the 8 time IC champ.

The former king of bling bling then tells us that it ends this sunday.Jericho then lets us know that he he is the destroyer of hopes and dreams.

Geez take a volume dude its wrestling lol.

Jericho then goes on to announce yet again that smackdown is his show.He then demands that Mysterio comes out so he can get slapped again I guess.

Instead of Mysterio though we get Edge .The 1000 time champ then tells us he is sick of Jericho's voice already.Edge then continues to then say everyone is out to get him.

He reminds us again how many times the belt was given to him.He also reminds Jericho that its his show not fancy lads and demands hardy comes out.

Instead we get the playa playa who plays up to the crowd.He  tells us that its the WWE universes show, and announces that Edge and Jericho will go at it to night.

(Nice chemistry between edge and Jericho as always.JR went a little to far calling the match ground breaking.These two have fought many times .)

They then show Jeff walking to the  ring in face paint combo #520.

Jeff Hardy vs Ricky Ortiz

This starts of  all Ricky Ortiz.He hits Jeff with head buts, slams, and a nice knee to the face.This goes on for a bit Ortiz makes a match out of it.

Hardy, makes his comeback though with his normal offense .He then hits a twist of fate and swanton for the three count.

(This was nice match for the youngster.Hardy didnt wow anyone, but what did you expect.)

We come back from commercial break Hardy is in the ring.He goes on to cut a promo for Judgment day.We are followed up with hardy by guess what?More Judgement day advertisements .

We come back to the ring from commercial break for some diva action.

Mc Cool and Alicia Fox vs Gail Kim and Melina

This starts of with some cat fight action.Alicia gets on a quick full nelson but Melina drops out of it.Melina then hits the arm drag and tags in Kim.

Kim then hits a so so  huricarana.She then tosses Alicia into the corner, and hits her with a weird kind of cross body.

Mc cool then pulls Kim of the mat and gets tagged in.Mc cool slaps on a headlock on kim, But kim gets out via the ropes.

Kim then gets the tag to Melina who cleans house.Mc cool takes control with a drop toe hold .Mc Cool then gets the roll up  for the quick 2.

Melina kicks Mc Cool in the head .Alicia gets involved but is knocked out of the ring.Melina then scores a roll up type power bomb move for the three count.

(Good tag action by the ladies it was nice to see them get a little time to do their thing.)

We come back and see Jimmy Wang Yang in the ring.I guess the rumors of him being dead were false.

Jimmy Wang  Yang vs Dolph Ziggler

I think we know how this one will pan out.Yang, gets in some offense and makes a small come back  at the end.

In the end though Dolph gets the win in this squash match.Following the match Khali comes down and tosses Ziggler out of the ring.

(I cant wait for this feud to continue.One big giant vs one little nothing should be a great match.)

We come back to see Cryme time in the back.I guess they are being nice, by pointing out to Layla that eve was getting her make up done.

Gee I wonder what happens?The cats are at it again, and being the nice fellows that Cryme Time are they break up the fight they started.

R-Truth is on his way to the ring via the fans asking us again whats up.If I had to guess another job but who knows for sure.

R-Truth vs Mike Knox

This was a short and simple match.Knox starts of with the power as you would expect.He misses a knee drop and goes out side.

R-Truth follows up with a nice dive over the ropes and hits Knox.They go  back in the ring Knox takes over again.

This time for a change though R-Truth makes the comeback .He hits Knox with the cork screw for the three count.

(I am glad they finaly let that dude win a match for a change.Sadly its probly so it looks better for the next person he jobs to.)

Mysterio is in the back cutting a promo for Judgment day .We are then shown the line up for this Sunday.

Edge vs Chris Jericho 

The match starts with both yelling at each other.Then they both slap each other .I think we have a good idea how this match will go.

They  start to wrestle Jericho gets the early advantage.Then edge takes control they both wind up outside.Jericho nails him into the barricade then ring.

Edge then nails Jericho on the announce table.The two Canadian bacon brothers get back in the ring.Edge misses the spear and hits the post.

Jericho kindly throws him back in their in case anyone missed it .Jericho slaps on a arm bar but edge muscles out of it.Edge follows this up with a knee lift and a series of elbows.

Jericho is now on the ropes and edge hits him with a cross body for a 2 count.Jericho takes over again this time edge is on the ropes.Jericho proceeds to stand on the ropes to choke Edge.

Edge is down on the mat Jericho then nails him with a baseball slide.We go to the outside now. Jericho trys to take advantage but gets thrown into the steel steps.

Edge tosses him back in for a quick two.They both make their way to the top and punch each other.Then they both fall we go to a commercial.

We come back from commercial break to see edge hit a snap suplex for a quick two.Jericho comes back to hit Edge with a DDT for a 2 count.

Jericho then hits Edge with a hammer lock slam.He follows this up by taunting edge and kicking him.They both are up now and Edge out of no where hits the spear.Jericho rolls out of the ring to catch a break.

Jericho gets back in the and scores a quick take down.He then trys to pin Edge with his feet on the ropes but he gets caught.

Edge then goes for what looks like a roll up.Instead he winds up with his feet on the ropes and gets caught.

They both follow that up with a double close line.Edge gets up and puts Jericho in a weak sharp shooter, Jericho makes the ropes and the hold is broken.

He then trys it again but Jericho gets the roll up for the two count.Jericho follows this up with the walls but edge makes the ropes.

Jericho hits the hangman on edge he then gets a chair .He comes back in the ring Edge hits the boot.Some how Jericho was DQed.

That is followed up with Hardy, Umaga, Punk, Mysterio all brawling out with their opponents for this Sunday.

Final Thoughts

All in all another good Smackdown .A solid opening match with a solid main event.I think Jericho and Edge will raise the bar for Raw.
