WWE 2K14: Hulk Hogan's Presence Adds Excitement to Game Release

Despite being adamant that he hadn't signed a contract to appear in WWE 2K14, Hulk Hogan is going to be in the game, and his presence in the title makes this anticipated fall release more appealing. 

This is the first wrestling game in the 2K sports line, but this title is considered the sequel to WWE '13, and therein lies the reason for Hulk's inclusion—even though the Hulkster and his agent had said they haven't signed a deal to appear in the game. 

Hogan will be in the game, and his agent clarified the situation. According to Hogan's agent, in a story by prowrestling.net, Hogan is tied to the game from his contract originally signed with THQ. 

Hogan's THQ contract was transferred to 2K as part of THQ's bankruptcy. The contract came with a renewal option, and the company apparently exercised that option. This had to be a no-brainer for them as Hogan remains one of the most recognizable names in wrestling. 

He plays a vital role in this game—two roles actually. Both the "Real American" and "Holywood" characters of Hogan will be in this game. Considering this title is set to have a “30 Years of WrestleMania Mode” those two characters are essential. 

Love him or hate him, there's no denying Hogan's shadow over the WWE is huge, and that has deep roots in WrestleMania. 

Arguably the most iconic match in WrestleMania history involved Hogan. That came in WrestleMania 3 when Hogan took on Andre the Giant. While this wasn't the greatest technical match WrestleMania has ever seen, it was fantastic theater and fans ate it up. 

To this day, that match stands out in WWE lore, and Hogan remains a huge figure. To have any legitimate representation of the 30 years of WrestleMania, Hogan had to be a part of it.

Now that he is, fans have access to a key figure in WrestleMania history. This will make for a more complete gaming experience, and it ensures that expectations will be on high for this game as the accomplished 2K takes over the title.
