WWE Rumors: Examining Latest Buzz Around Triple H, Cody Rhodes and More
Triple H is reportedly preparing to move beyond intimidating Big Show and firing Cody Rhodes and start delivering some in-ring punishment as well.
Recent WWE rumors surround just why Rhodes was written off TV and if Triple H plans to trade in his suit for wrestling trunks once more. In addition, the answers to the following questions may lie in circulating rumors.
What are WWE officials reportedly saying about Hulk Hogan's recent comments? How will the Night of Champions look in the coming weeks?
Get a few grains of salt ready as we dive into the WWE rumors currently scurrying across the Internet.
Cody Rhodes
1 of 5Fans know that Cody Rhodes' firing on Monday's WWE Raw will only be temporarily, but rumors have some answers as to why it happened in the first place.
It looks as if Randy Orton defeating him and Triple H kicking him off the roster was to allow him to take some personal time. PWMania.com reports that, "Word going around at Raw Monday night was that Cody Rhodes is taking a few weeks off to get married and go on his honeymoon."
WWE played up Rhodes' upcoming marriage on-air, saying that he'd now have to tell his fiancee that he was out of a job. Blending real-life and storyline this way only makes the rumored explanation more plausible.
This way, should photos of Rhodes' wedding surface, it adds to the believability of the story from Raw.
Hulk Hogan
2 of 5Hearing news of Hulk Hogan and Eric Bischoff being criticized for decisions surrounding a wrestling company may sound like something out of 2000, but it's happening in 2013 as well.
Hogan recently said that Bischoff should be given the "keys to the car" in terms of running TNA and those comments stirred up some buzz. Nick Paglino of WrestleZone.com reports that WWE officials have been discussing Hogan and Bischoff with less-than-favorable things to say.
"Everyone is buzzing at just how Hogan and Bischoff have all but crippled that company, and have done nothing to get it out of the hole Bruce Prichard dug for the company when he was in Dixie's ear.
"
This could be a case of WWE overestimating a rival's demise, but it's interesting to hear that the top wrestling company is keeping tabs on what TNA is doing.
Ric Flair said on Steve Austin's podcast that he didn't think TNA would be around long. It appears some WWE officials feel the same way.
Triple H
3 of 5Triple H has yet to fully transition from in-ring performer to WWE executive as evidenced by his recent trilogy of matches against Brock Lesnar and battles with Curtis Axel. It looks as if he may be lacing his boots up once more.
As reported by PWInsider.com, via WrestlingRumors.net, "Triple H is expected to wrestle twice before likely being in one of the main events of WrestleMania XXX."
One of those matches could be in a War Games-type match and one could be against the giant he has recently pushed around. CagesideSeats.com writes that Big Show vs. Triple H is being discussed as is a War Games match at the first-ever Battleground pay-per-view.
These are not difficult rumors to believe.
Triple H has been a prominent part of the Randy Orton vs. Daniel Bryan storyline where he has domineered over the WWE roster. Should some of those wrestlers rebel against his authority a War Games match involving Orton, Bryan, Triple H and The Shield makes a lot of sense.
Tag Team Title Match Rumors
4 of 5Mark Henry and Big Show looked certain to challenge The Shield. A hamstring injury has apparently derailed that set of immense trains.
The following comes courtesy of F4WOnline.com, via PWMania.com:
"WWE officials are being forced to re-program the Tag Team Title match for Night of Champions due to Mark Henry’s injury. Henry and Big Show were scheduled to face Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins for the titles. With Darren Young and Titus O’Neil getting wins on TV, it looks like they may be getting the shot at Night of Champions.
"
The Prime Time Players have notched victories over The Real Americans and 3MB in recent weeks and seem a logical choice as a replacement for Big Show and Henry. There has been no official word on the severity of Henry's injury, but not seeing him on Monday's Raw leads one to think that WWE was holding him out.
With Night of Champions less than two weeks away, going forward with The Prime Time Players would be smarter than depending on Henry if the company is unsure of when he'll be ready to go.
Night of Champions Rumored Matches
5 of 5The top of the Night of Champions is set with all the major titles up for grabs. Rumors about what the rest of the card looks like offers some intriguing options.
Nick Paglino of WrestleZone.com reported on Aug. 28 that the following matches were being planned:
- Bray Wyatt vs. Christian
- Dean Ambrose vs. Dolph Ziggler
- AJ Lee vs. Natalya vs. Naomi vs. Brie Bella
- The Miz vs. Fandango
- Cody Rhodes vs. Damien Sandow
Unless Rhodes' firing is extremely short-lived, the last match isn't going to happen. It appears that feud may be done altogether as Sandow and Rhodes haven't clashed recently.
The Divas match was confirmed on Monday's WWE Raw. Miz and Fandango's feud continued on that episode with the two colliding once more. That certainly seems plausible as a non-title filler match.
Ambrose attacked Ziggler on Monday, so that match looks be in the works as well.
The only real wild card is Bray Wyatt taking on Christian. WWE has given no indication of this happening, but it's certainly an opportunity for Wyatt to add to his resume and a means to plug Christian into the show. Wyatt needs to prey on someone and Captain Charisma is as likely a candidate as anyone.
