Calvin Johnson Gets Some Help from Sean 'Diddy' Combs in New Nike Commercial
Let's hope Calvin Johnson's split personality disorder helps Nike sell some sneakers.
Most shoe commercials lean heavily on humor and obvious storylines to sell their product. Taking a detour into rarely charted territory, this one's a thinker.
Calvin Johnson is actually two men: Calvin, a hardworking star athlete who has a ton on his mind, and Johnson, a celebrity who is happy to sign autographs and bask in the glow of the spotlight.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Really, we would have settled for Johnson playing the part of Megatron in a Transformers-themed commercial spot that is long overdue.
The man who plays Johnson is none other than Sean "Diddy" Combs, a man who once thought Mase was a fantastic rapper.
In this case, Diddy is going to handle the press and all the fluff that comes with being a marquee athlete. All Calvin has to worry about is the game.
So waitโCalvin gets to work out, train, eat right, study, sleep well and give everything he has on the field, while Johnson gets to be the celebrity?
Someone is getting a raw deal here.
As Evan Jankens ofย CBS Sports reminds us, Nike unveiled theย CJ81 earlier this year. Now we get an ad campaign that will split the audience as much as the protagonists presented in the commercial.
Now if Johnson gets out to an amazing start this season, you can go ahead and tip your hat to Combs, who is signing autographs so the Lions' star wide receiver doesn't have to.
So that's what Diddy has been up to.
