Questions for Kansas City Chiefs' Rookie Lineman Colin Brown

Colin, you just completed rookie mini-camp. What are your first impressions of life in the NFL?

You grew up in Braymer, Mo., just an hour from Kansas City. What’s was it like to hear your name called by the team you have followed all of your life?

It’s well-documented that you considered yourself more of a basketball player than football player in high school. Are there any skills you acquired from basketball, such as footwork, that have made you a better lineman?

You spent the last four years protecting Chase Daniel in a prolific spread offense. How difficult will it be to transition to a pro-style offense? What are the similarities, and what are the differences?

Quarterbacks such as Daniel and Graham Harrell fell out of the draft, in part because of the system they played in. Is it also harder to get at shot at the NFL as an offensive lineman playing the spread?

Describe your game to fans who may not have seen you play. What do you perceive as your strengths and weaknesses? What current NFL lineman would you compare yourself with?

What will you be working on between now and the start of training camp?

What short- and long-term goals have you set for yourself?

The Chiefs have invested a great deal of money in quarterback Matt Cassel. Do you and the other lineman take it as a matter of pride to step up your game to give him the protection he needs to succeed?
