NBA 2K14: Latest Info on New Trailers, Release Date, Soundtrack and More

Alex KayJun 8, 2018

The producers at 2K Sports continue to leak out new information and footage concerning the upcoming edition of their well-regarded basketball video game NBA 2K.

This year’s iteration, NBA 2K14, is shaping up to be the best one yet. There are a number of new modes, improved play, an excellent soundtrack and even a great cover feature the league’s best player—LeBron James.

With less than a month to go until the release of NBA 2K14 on current-generation consoles, it’s time to start reading up and getting familiar with all the new stuff in the game.

Official Trailer

This trailer was released on YouTube at the end of August and has had fans in a tizzy ever since.

It features almost everything gamers have been clamoring for on current-gen consoles, including more realistic graphics—likely the best we will see before the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 hit the market—facial characteristics, lifelike movements and more.

What truly stands out in this trailer is the true-to-life celebrations, such as Harden’s signature three-ball run-back and Kent Bazemore jumping on the sidelines. There are also the incredible flashy passes that players such as Ricky Rubio throw, insanely acrobatic layups, highlight dunks and—completely new this year—the ability to swat away those highlight-dunk attempts.

The game looks more fluid than any previous edition, as players look to be able to seamlessly pull up on the run and alter their layup trajectory in mid-air. The drive-and-dishes look completely natural and it should be a joy to play with unselfish stars such as Steve Nash and Rajon Rondo.

Even ball fakes look awesome, as Kobe Bryant completely fooled his man with one and stepped back to swish a jumper. (Side note: Shame on you Eric Bledsoe. You thought the Black Mamba was going to pass?)

The natural fluidity of NBA 2K14 should take the series to new heights, as the creators at Visual Concepts have done their best to recreate the beautiful game of professional basketball on the television screen.

Signature Skills Trailers

As if the official trailer didn’t already have fans pining to play NBA 2K14, 2K Sports released another teaser revolving around “Signature Skills.”

These signature skills allow certain players to perform the same inhuman feats that their counterparts in real life are famous for pulling off.

Flashy Pass is one of the most intriguing ones that has been added in 2K14, allowing the league’s top set-up artists to throw no-look passes and drop dimes that will have you scrambling to watch the instant replay.

The game’s creators also improved the pick-and-roll so that players can try to recreate the NBA's most-utilized and deadly effective plays.

The Pick-and-Roll Maestro receives a boost to passing after a screen while the Screen Outlet allows the set-up player to receive a boost to his shooting upon setting a pick.

There are a ton of other signature skills featured in NBA 2K14, including skills on defense that allow players to rebound better, block shots and fight through screens.

You’re going to want to pre-order the game in order to receive the unique LeBron Coast to Coast skill, which allows you to take the ball from one end of the floor to the other with great effectiveness following a rebound or turnover.

Make sure you pick up NBA 2K14 on Oct. 1 to find out what the rest of these signature skills do and then have some fun with them.
