Oakland Raider's 2009 Season Prediction

Predicting the outcome of a season or how a player will perform is a difficult thing to do. A lot of "haters" are always predicting bad outcomes for the Oakland Raiders. To prove them wrong I am attempting to make a realistic prediction for the Raiders in 2009. 

Week 1 - Raiders vs. Chargers-40% chance of winning=loss

The Chargers currently hold an 11 game winning streak over the Raiders, and many analysts predict that the Chargers will win this game. I would like to believe the Raiders could win this one, but the Chargers have a good looking team that beat Oakland last year. The Chargers aren't going to win forever though, and one of these days Oakland will pull off an upset.

Week 2 - Raiders @ Chiefs-70% chance of winning=win

In my eyes the Chiefs still look weak. They are vulnerable to the run, and Oakland should manhandle their defense with an improved passing game. If Cassel and Bruschi play well for Kansas City it will be a lot harder for Oakland to win however. The Chiefs and Raiders always have close games no matter which team is stronger, and this will be a great game.

Week 3 - Raiders vs. Broncos-50% chance of winning=??

The Broncos have been a decent team for awhile. For the past two seasons Oakland has a  2-2 record against Denver which shows that this game could go either way. If the loss of Cutler dramatically affects their passing game then the Raiders should have a better shot at winning.

Week 4 - Raiders @ Texans-40% chance of winning=loss

The Texans have a 4-1 record against Oakland so I'm predicting that the Raiders lose this game.  The Raiders did handle the Texans last season, but I believe they are going to be better this year.

Week 5 - Raiders @ Giants-30% chance of winning=loss

The Giants are definitely a playoff contender and are probably not worried about the Raiders. Still, there's a chance the Raiders could win if all their players step up, or if Eli Manning's arm falls off.

Week 6 - Raiders vs. Eagles-49% chance of winning=loss

The Eagles are a good team, but there is still some doubt wether they can make the playoffs this season. The Raiders could win if they play a good game and remember that they can't make any mistakes.

Week 7 - Raiders vs. Jets-50% chance of winning=??

The Raiders barely pulled out a win against the Jets last year and that was when they had Brett Favre. Oakland has a chance at winning this game if they can stay in the game like they did last season.

Week 8 - Raiders @ Chargers-55% chance of winning=??

The Raiders have a better chance at winning the second time around based on the fact that they play better in the second game of a series.

Week 9 - BYE

Week 10 - Raiders vs. Chiefs-60% chance if winning=win

Depending on much success the Chiefs and Raiders have in their games leading up to this game will determine the outcome. The Chiefs and Raiders always battle, and whoever has that win streak will be victorious.

Week 11 - Raiders vs. Bengals-60% chance of winning=win

The Bengals might look like a strong team from the outside, but they have flaws that can be taken advantage of.

Week 12 - Raiders @ Cowboys-40% chance of winning=loss

The Cowboys are probably the weakest playoff contender in their division, and they might not even be contenders anymore. Dallas still is a pretty good team though, and should not be underestimated.

Week 13 - Raiders @ Steelers-50% chance of winning=loss

The reason this is so high is because Oakland proved that a losing team could beat a reigning Superbowl Champion team (the Steelers in '07). The Raider's young offense should be careful around the Steelers Defense though.

Week 14 - Raiders vs. Redskins-45% chance of winning=loss

The Redskins don't look like a strong team to me. Don't get me wrong, they're good, but not consistently. The Redskin's off-season signing of Haynseworth was a big move for the defense.  If he can make a difference, it should be clear by the time this game comes around.

Week 15 - Raiders @ Broncos-45% chance of winning=??

The Broncos will probably be fighting for the AFC West at this point. If the Raiders are winning games by this time then it should be a hard fought battle. I see these teams as equal, and whoever won the first game will have be at a disadvantage in the second.

Week 16 - Raiders @ Browns-55% of winning=win

I still see the Browns as a team that Oakland beat last season (by the way something I've been hearing is Ryan will blitz).

Week 17 - Raiders vs. Ravens-40% chance of winning=loss

I'm kind of afraid of this game, but I'm also a little relieved that the Ravens lost their defensive coordinator.
