Michael Silberbauer Lost Four Teeth for FC Copenhagen: The Danish League Round Up

...Apr 13, 2008

Michael Silberbauer had to be substituted in the first half of FC Copenhagen's game against fellow Champions League hopefuls OB.

A head collision with OB's Esben Hansen meant that Silberbauer had to pay an urgent visit to a nearby dentist. He lost FOUR teeth (My God!!).

The game eventually ended 0-0 which did nothing to help either team in the attempt to catch league leaders Aab.

Copenhagen are still stuck five points behind Aab in second place, with OB a further five behind Copenhagen in fourth place.

Aab lost their game at the weekend against third placed FC Midtjylland 2-0, in a game marred by controversy and a huge brawl between the two teams at final whistle.

My hometown club AGF lost 3-2 away to FC Nordsjaeland, which again did little to help their survival bid. The game was also marred by controversy and horrible referee desicions.

Who said bad referee's only existed in the EPL??

In the rest of the weekend's action: Brondby beat Esbjerg 2-0, Lyngby and Randers played out a lacklustre 0-0 draw.

In case any of you are wondering about the teams, here are a few pointers:

Most of you know Copenhagen for their Champions League participation last year in Manchester United and Celtic's group. Aab played Spurs in the Uefa cup earlier in the season.

If you look DEEP into Uefa Cup history, you'll find OB once beat the mighty Real Madrid 2-0 at the Bernabeu—1996 or 97 I think it was.

Brondby are also probably known for their Champions League participitation a couple of seasons ago—it was in fact Man United treble winning season.

They were the unlucky team trapped in the "group of death" consisting of United, Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Brondby.

The rest of the teams have never participated in Europe with the exception of AGF, but that was back in the old days—60's, 70's.

Goal keeping legend Peter Schmeichel played for Brondby before Man United bought him for as little as £530,000.

You got any more questions, feel free to ask. I realise it isn't the most glamorous league in the world but anyhow, it quite interesting...
