Nearby lightning strikes sent players from sixth-ranked South Carolina and North Carolina scrambling into the locker room midway through the fourth quarter on Thursday night, as officials cleared the field for a mandated weather delay.
The Gamecocks were leading 27-10 when the teams left the field with 8:20 remaining in the final period, as lightning struck eight miles away from Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia:
