WWE Night of Champions 2013: Superstars Who Will Rebound After Losses

The Doctor Chris MuellerJun 3, 2018

SummerSlam featured a lot of memorable moments, but for every big winner was a big loser. Some of these losers are just gearing up to come back to get big wins, and some of them are just losers.

Many top stars walked out of SummerSlam with losses, but what is more notable is that every title is being held by a heel at the moment. This gives WWE the chance to pop the crowd several times at Night of Champions for potential title changes.

CM Punk doesn't have the chance to get revenge on Brock Lesnar at NOC, but many of the other Superstars who lost matches can seek some kind of retribution.

A lot of people are looking to make up for losses at SummerSlam. This slideshow will look at five of those Superstars and what could potentially happen with them at Night of Champions.

CM Punk

1 of 5

CM Punk lost to Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam, but he has a chance to get some kind of payback on Paul Heyman and his new protégé, Curtis Axel.

Punk and Heyman have a very interesting feud going on right now. Heyman wants to show Punk that he is hurt by his actions, but after brutally beating Punk with a kendo stick on Raw, Heyman broke down in tears.

This storyline goes deeper than "I hate you" and "I hate you more." This storyline involves themes like parenthood, abandonment, betrayal, friendship and the lines a person is willing to cross.

Punk won't go two PPVs in a row losing to Heyman or his clients. Punk will find a way to neutralize Axel, and then he will finally get his hands on Paul Heyman to give him the beating of his life.

Daniel Bryan

2 of 5

Daniel Bryan finally won the WWE title at SummerSlam, but Randy Orton and Triple H had other plans. Bryan was Pedigreed and then Orton cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to win the WWE title. It was a plan that couldn't fail.

Bryan was not only being brought into a huge storyline involving Vince McMahon, Triple H and Randy Orton, but he was being turned into the ultimate sympathetic victim.

This is a guy who did everything to win the belt, only to have it ripped away from him minutes after winning it. How could you not empathize with him?

Bryan is about to get a monster push, and it will start at Night of Champions.

AJ Lee

3 of 5

AJ Lee and Big E. Langston lost to Kaitlyn and Dolph Ziggler at SummerSlam, but the promo AJ delivered on Raw seems to indicate that she is going to be on top of the Divas division for a long time.

Whoever steps up from the Divas division to challenge AJ will have to rise to her level, and that will be hard for some of the less talented wrestlers in the division.

AJ needs to get away from storylines involving Dolph Ziggler, and her promo from Raw indicates that she is ready to do that.

Hopefully this is just the beginning for AJ.

Kane

4 of 5

Kane was unable to defeat Bray Wyatt in a Ring of Fire match. He was taken out of the arena by the backwoods trio following the match and hasn't been seen since.

This storyline can go two ways, and both of them will lead to Kane returning to a victory in some way or another. Maybe he will return as part of the Wyatt family, or maybe he will start tormenting it.

The great thing about Kane is that WWE can do anything it wants with him. He can be the comedy guy, the demented guy, the monster heel or the fan favorite.

Returning to feud with Bray Wyatt would be expected by everyone, but returning as a member of Wyatt's clan would make the whole program a lot more interesting.

Kane may not have a lot of ring time left in him, but he is still one of the company's workhorses who can be depended on for a good feud and a good match. Look for Kane to return in a big way very soon.

Damien Sandow

5 of 5

Damien Sandow may be the Money in the Bank briefcase holder, but he is still coming off a pair of back-to-back losses to his former best friend, Cody Rhodes.

Sandow and Rhodes are not done with each other, and the Intellectual Savior of the Masses is someone who can be counted on to hold a grudge until he comes out on top.

Since Rhodes and Sandow have continued to interact since SummerSlam, it seems likely that they will have some kind of match at Night of Champions.

This time, Sandow needs to put the briefcase on the line. That way, when he comes out on top it, is more than just another victory.

All five of the people on this list suffered losses at SummerSlam, but all of them do not seem to be in any danger of repeating that performance at NOC.

What do you think? Which SummerSlam losers will bounce back with wins at Night of Champions?
