WWE 2K14: Classic Matches We Hope to See in 30 Years of WrestleMania Mode
There are over 45 total matches in the 30 Years of WrestleMania single-player campaign mode for the upcoming WWE 2K14 video game. We know about a few of the matches and we know the full roster for the mode, but most of the matches haven't been revealed.
For those who aren't aware, the mode will allow gamers/WWE fans to replay some of the greatest matches in WrestleMania history. Specific objectives will be given to recreate the signature moments of those matches. Gamers will work their way through the storied history of the annual event until they have progressed to WrestleMania 29.
With those parameters in place and the knowledge of the roster for the mode, here are five matches I'd love to see announced.
WrestleMania IV - Hulk Hogan vs. Andre the Giant
The first meeting between Hogan and the Giant has been confirmed, but the two men also met at WrestleMania IV.
Including this match would be cool because it ended without a decision with both men being disqualified. To take the re-creation process to the next level, gamers could be charged with playing their part in the events that transpired later in the card.
Both Hogan and the Giant returned in support of Randy "Macho Man" Savage and the "Million-Dollar Man" Ted Dibiase, respectively, as they battled for the WWE championship. Reenacting these events would add great variety to the normal way the mode is played.
WrestleMania VIII - Randy Savage vs. Ric Flair
Savage was returning to the WWE (WWF at the time) and facing Flair for the title. The Macho Man prevailed in the match. Replaying a match with two of the greatest wrestlers of all time would be great.
Flair had just come over from WCW and he brought the Big Gold belt with him. Displaying the iconic championship and making this match the way to unlock it, would be fitting.
This match doesn't get the attention it deserves in wrestling's long history, but Savage and Flair—anytime, anywhere—is a big deal.
WrestleMania XII - Shawn Michaels vs. Bret Hart
This was the hour-long Iron Man match. I wouldn't mind playing an elongated match with time-adjusted objectives. I'm not sure about playing a full hour in one match, but part of that time could be sped up with cinematic scenes.
Playing through a longer match than normal would only add to the glory of completing the mode. Give it to me—I embrace the challenge.
WrestleMania XIII - Bret Hart vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin
The match that birthed Stone Cold's worldwide admiration seems like a must for the mode. Who wouldn't want to take control of the bloodied rattlesnake until he passed out under the pressure of the Hitman's Sharpshooter.
Sign me up for a piece of scripted cyber masochism. Without Ken Shamrock announced as a playable character, this one may not happen, though.
WrestleMania XIV - Kane vs. Undertaker
Perhaps the best in-ring battle ever between two WWE giants, Kane vs. Undertaker would be thrilling in the game. Kane was just gaining steam as Taker's "badly-burned" little brother. Seeing the two men in the ring gave fans chills and would likely render the same effects for those that get the concept in the video game.
This would also give gamers a chance to take part in one of the more memorable matches from Taker's WrestleMania streak.
What Did I Miss?
There are so many possibilities, and I'm sure I've missed a few great ones. Leave your hopes and wishes for included matches in the comment section. Stay tuned for the official news on the included matches soon.
