San Francisco 49ers Roster 2013: Latest Cuts, Depth Charts and Analysis

Tyson LanglandJun 8, 2018

By the Bay Area, the San Francisco 49ers have already started announcing cuts as they trim their roster down to 75 by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday and down to 53 on Saturday.

Even though a majority of the spots are already locked up, there are still a few that could be sewn up during the 49ers' final preseason game against the San Diego Chargers.

Follow along here to receive updates as soon as they happen. Also, make sure to have your voice heard in the comments section below.

List of 53-Man Roster Cuts

1 of 7

Here is a list of the organizational cuts San Francisco made to get down to 53 players, per Matt Barrows of The Sacramento Bee:

  • Seneca Wallace, QB
  • Travis Johnson, LB
  • Michael Thomas, S
  • Trenton Robinson, S
  • Lavelle Hawkins, WR
  • Kassim Osgood, WR
  • Brian Jennings, LS
  • Marcus Cooper, CB
  • Carter Bykowski, OT
  • Jason Schepler, FB
  • Wayne Tribue, OG
  • Chad Hall, WR
  • Austin Collie, WR
  • Darryl Morris, CB
  • Patrick Omameh, OL
  • Chuck Jacobs, WR
  • MarQueis Gray, TE
  • Kenny Wiggins, OL
  • Jewel Hampton, RB
  • Joe Holland, LB
  • Mike Purcell, DL

When you have a stacked roster, there are going to be some tough decisions to make. The most shocking cut came when the 49ers waived safety Trenton Robinson and cornerback Darryl Morris. Robinson was apart of last year's draft class and Morris was an undrafted free agent out of Texas State.

With the release of wide receivers Chad Hall, Austin Collie, Kassim Osgood, Lavelle Hawkins and Chuck Jacobs, it appears as if head coach Jim Harbaugh is comfortable rolling with five wideouts on the opening day roster.

Tight end MarQueis Gray is a prime practice squad candidate. Look for him to develop nicely this year if he clears waivers and signs a practice squad contract.

List of 1st Round of Cuts

6 of 7

So far the 49ers have waived seven players and made one trade. Additionally, they made eight moves to get down to the NFL-mandated roster limit of 75.

  • Scott Tolzien, QB
  • Al Netter, OL
  • D.J. Harper, RB
  • Colton Schmidt, P
  • Joe Holland, LB
  • Lawrence Okoye, DL
  • Lamar Divens, DL

The organization traded outside linebacker Parys Haralson to the New Orleans Saints for a conditional seventh-round pick. The trade is contingent on Haralson making the Saints roster, which he is expected to do.

Defensive lineman Lawrence Okoye has always been a long-shot to make the team; however, the 49ers' coaching staff was hoping to see more development out of the British track and field star. There is a good chance Okoye lands on injured reserve once he clears waivers.

Here is a list of the eight other roster moves the organization made:

Injured Reserve

  • Chris Culliver, CB

Reserve/PUP List

  • Michael Crabtree, WR
  • Mario Manningham, WR

Reserve/Non-Football Injury List

  • Eric Wright, CB
  • Tank Carradine, DT
  • Quinton Dial, DT
  • Luke Marquardt, OT
  • Marcus Lattimore, RB

Wide receivers Michael Crabtree and Mario Manningham will be eligible to return Week 7 against the Titans

Cornerback Chris Culliver was placed on injured reserve with no possible chance to return this season.

Previewing 53-Man Roster Cuts

Here's a look at how the 49ers may cut their roster down to 53 players.

  • Seneca Wallace, QB
  • Jewell Hampton, HB
  • Jason Schepler, FB
  • Austin Collie, WR
  • Kassim Osgood, WR
  • Lavelle Hawkins, WR
  • Chad Hall, WR
  • Chuck Jacobs, WR
  • MarQueis Gray, TE
  • Kenny Wiggins, OT
  • Patrick Omameh, OL
  • Wayne Tribue, OG
  • Carter Bykowski, OT
  • Mike Purcell, NT
  • Nate Stupar, LB
  • Travis Johnson, LB
  • Darryl Morris, CB
  • Bubba Ventrone, S
  • Michael Thomas, S
  • Trenton Robinson, S
  • Kevin McDermott, LS

The wide receiver position has been one of the hardest to figure out. At this point, it seems as if the 49ers will only keep five wideouts. Austin Collie has major health concerns and Kassim Osgood's salary may end up being too rich for San Francisco's blood.

Don't be shocked if general manager Trent Baalke decides to keep six cornerbacks instead of six receivers.
