MMA Fighters Say "Knock Out Dog Fighting"

Dorothy WillisMay 14, 2009

Of course the picture I have chosen is a of a Boxer and not a Pit Bull.

It is a picture of a dog that has been loved by a little girl with an imagination much like I had when I was very young.

My dogs were members of my special front porch tea parties, had their own birthday cakes with all of my friends invited to their parties, Christmas stockings and presents, and were often entered in costume contests and or dressed up as babies and given rides in my brother's big blue baby buggy.

Some of you reading this may shudder when hearing of the indignities my pets endured, but no one can ever accuse me of putting one of my very best friends in a dog fight.

Fortunately, several MMA fighters such as Andre Arlovski, Tito Ortiz, Josh "the Punk" Thompson, Razor Rob McCullough, and Cung Le, among others, have joined forces within a group called "Knock Out Dog Fighting."

Since all of these MMA fighters love man's best friend, they are trying to see an end to the brutal sport of dog fighting.

By publicizing how cowardly the owners of dogs are to place their charges in "kill or be killed" combat for money and entertainment, these fighters tell it like it is.

While a person has the power to choose to step into a potentially life endangering  fight within an octagon, a faithful dog put into a pit to fight another, has no choice and may die a horrible death at the whim of its owner.

How cowardly these owners are!

I hope that there is a special place in hell for everyone of them!

How proud I am of the fighters of my favorite sport to be taking a proactive stand to end this form of animal cruelty and abuse.

There were video clips of the fighters and also a very good looking female body builder Mona Lisa "Mo" Reyes with dogs and telling why they are against dog fighting.

Tito Ortiz was with a pit bull that had been trained as a rescue dog and the dog was so friendly that Tito kept breaking into the sweetest most charming smile. How very hard to recognize the "Huntington Beach bad boy" as he petted the dog and gave his testimony. It was priceless!

Andre Arlovski had a bit of American history and a poster from WWI of a pit bull used to represent the Americans fighting spirit. I believe he used his own dog in his video clip.

Cung Le had a movie trailer styledspot and emphasized that dog owners who jeopardize their dogs are the lowest type of coward.

Josh Thompson did not resemble any type of punk I am acquainted with as he played with his own Old English Bulldog after speaking his mind on the subject.

I encourage all of you to check out www.KnockOutDogFighting.org to learn more and see another heroic side of our MMA stars as they prove that even though they fight like demons they are on the side of the angels where man's best friends are concerned.

For the rest of the day I will ruminate on why our brave standard dachshund allowed a four year old Dee to hide under the dining room table and share "his" Milk-bones with him.

How many of you has ever tasted a Milk-bone?

That is not how I got fat.
