Do Arsenal Really Need a Replacement for Emmmanuel Adebayor

Callum D'SouzaMay 14, 2009

Arsenal are more than likely to accept an offer from AC Milan, who are set to offer over £30 million for Togolese striker Emmanuel Adebayor. Adebayor has expressed great interest in joining the Italian giants and looked set to play at the San Siro for 2008/2009.

The Togolese international had a stellar season in 2007/2008, netting 30 goals and was one of the Gunners most consistent performers. This season has been a different story.

The striker has struggled with injuries and form but has showed glimpses of the scoring prowess he had last season. The lanky front-man is second on the Arsenal score sheet with 16.

With the Adebayor leaving is there any need to look for a replacement. With Dutch striker Robin van Persie in great touch and injury free, he will no doubt be the main strike force for 2009/2010.

Then you have Danish sharpshooter Nicklas Bendtner. The imposing Dane has come of age in the second half of the season and has showed he can be a real leader and goal scorer at Arsenal.

Then there is Eduardo Da Silva. The Croatian who was shaping up to be the big thing in football before he succumbed to that dreadful injury in February last year. Da Silva will hopefully be rid of all injuries for 2009/2010 and capable of starting up front with van Persie.

Let's not forget the Mexican sensation Carlos Vela. In his first senior season at the Emirates, the teenager has scored a hat trick and showed an impressive amount of maturity and finishing, not to mention his cool tricks. He will no doubt be looking for a lot more game time next season.

As always with Arsenal there are the amazing youngsters. Jay Simpson, Nacer Barazite, Vincent van Der Berg and Henry Laurensbury are all currently away on loan but come the start of next season all will be fit and firing ready to win the League cup.

So if Adebayor does leave, which looks most likely, do Arsenal need to find a replacement. No doubt money should be spent on capturing a quality midfielder or defender.

As always with Arsenal, you have the amazing youngsters.
