WWE 2K14: Corner Finishers and New Additions to Gameplay

The improvements 2K Sports has made with gameplay may appear subtle, but they could be a major factor if WWE 2K14 lives up to its enormous potential.

In an effort to add even more elements of the action WWE fans routinely see on Mondays, Fridays and once a month in pay-per-view events, 2K Sports has added more intuitive prompts to perform corner finishers.

There are only a few Superstars that will be affected by this new gameplay addition, but anything that adds authenticity is a plus. Gamers could do these before, but some fans may not have been aware of them because the on-screen instructions weren't as clear.

If you watch the gameplay in the video below, you'll see Ryback set up Dolph Ziggler for the meathook clothesline. You'll also see how clear the instructions are to perform the move.

In the video, you may have noticed as well that Ryback looks a lot more authentic this year than he did when he was added as DLC in WWE 13. I can confirm this after seeing the game live in Los Angeles during SummerSlam weekend. A lot was put into rendering the faces and signature mannerisms of the wrestlers.

Ryback's head taps and in-ring "No" chants from Daniel Bryan come through loud and clear. 

Other Enhancements That Have Been Revealed

Catapult Finishers

The ability to perform certain finishers after your opponent has been launched in the air is a potentially excellent addition. Moves like Antonio Cesaro's European Uppercut look great after an Irish whip, and a flapjack helps to add impact and cool points.

This will be an especially great addition if you can incorporate this element when you're creating your own finishers and signature moves.

Springboard Signatures and Finishers

Some of the most exciting moves in wrestling come from springboard action. Chris Jericho's Lionsault and others look great when done in WWE video games.

WWE 2K14 is expanding the amount of moves that can be performed in conjunction with springboards. The video below from Backyard Gaming shows Cesaro hitting Daniel Bryan with the European Uppercut after a springboard, as well as a catapult finisher.
