Hart Foundation Version 2.0

Alex HallMay 13, 2009

Now, I'm not a reader of the WWE spoilers, so I can't be 100 percent on the following statement, but it appears as if the WWE has decided to write another page into the story of "The Hart Foundation." Older wrestling fans will remember "The Hart Foundation" as the tag team of Bret "The Hitman" Hart and Jim "The Anvil" Neidhart, along with their loudmouth manager Jimmy Hart. This tag team would go on to become one of the greatest tag teams in the history of World Wrestling Entertainment; and it seems as if the newest Harts are ready to take on the family name.

Last Tuesday on ECW, Finlay faced off against the ever-talented Tyson Kidd in a rivalry match that would eventually mark the return of David Harvey Smith to WWE television. The team of Tyson Kidd and David Harvey Smith ambushed and essentially mugged Finlay, ending the attack with the original "Hart Foundation" finisher: the Hart attack. The mugging came to a close when Natalya Neidhart came out and unified the trio when the team all raised their hands, proud of what they had done.

Theoretically it makes perfect sense, considering Smith is obviously the muscle of the group, meaning he would fill the role of Jim Neidhart, while Kidd would play the role of Bret: being the technically sound wrestler. Natalya would obviously manage, but the thing that sets her apart from playing the role of Jimmy Hart is that the woman can wrestle. That opens the door for possible mixed tag matches and diva feuds for possible storylines for the newly formed faction.

Growing up a fan of "The Hart Foundation" and Bret Hart particularly, I am interested to see what ECW's writers intend to do with the group of Hart Family Dungeon graduates. This has the making to be one of the best things to ever happen to the ECW brand, next to Christian's return and Rob Van Dam holding both the WWE and ECW title at the same time. It will be interesting to see what the next ECW has in store for this "Next Generation Hart Foundation," and I can only hope the faction is here to stay.
