Madden 25: Review, Tips, Achievements and Roster Updates Info
Madden 25 released to EA SPORTS Season Ticket subscribers today and there is much to discuss about the latest entry in the Madden series. The questions, answers and abundance of information couldn't be seamlessly included in my initial hits and misses review, so I created this article to tie up most—if not all—of the loose ends.
The companion elements to Madden 25 can often be ignored for the betterment and detriment of the product, but the good far outweighs the bad in this year's version. Despite a few omissions from Madden 13, that was my overall feeling with last year's game as well. But I'm even more pleased this time around.
So you have the game, you're thinking about buying it or just curious about others' takes on it.
In any case, here you'll find a few tips to improve your skill as this Madden season progresses, a full list of achievements for gamers who wear their gamer scores like a badge, and information on what could be included in the upcoming roster updates.
Let's kick the extra point on the initial coverage of Madden 25.
Tips
1 of 3Know Your Team
Madden 25's playbooks, schemes and distinct player ratings make knowing your team essential. Depending on how good you want to be at this year's game, you must learn the skill sets of the players on your team.
How much speed do you have on the outside? Which receivers have the highest catch-in-traffic ratings? This information is paramount for you to know whom to go to in tight situations.
It doesn't matter if your slot receiver has a 98 speed rating if he doesn't make tough catches over the middle. Throwing him the ball in tight spots will only lead to that "what just happened?" look after he drops crucial passes on third down.
On defense, you have to know the speed and coverage abilities of your defensive backs and linebackers. Learning this information will allow you to make adjustments and prevent you from being victimized in mismatches.
Don't Ignore Precision Modifiers
The new tools given to ball-carriers are legit. This isn't just a gimmick in gameplay that you'll never need to use. Holding the left trigger (or L2 on PS3) will unlock a variety of spins, jukes, trucks, stiff arms and hybrid moves.
You're only hurting yourself if you don't take advantage of them. Aside from the competitive edge, they also look pretty awesome when performed correctly.
I highly suggest that even the most-skilled Madden player go through the Skills Trainer once or twice to master this new gameplay mechanic.

What to Expect from Roster Updates
3 of 3The rosters in the retail version are accurate up to June 21, per Madden ratings czar Donny Moore:
"June 21 was cutoff RT @BMaziqueFPBR: #Madden25 Late Signings to Look Forward to in First Roster Update @EAMaddenNFL http://t.co/aREAU3355G
— Donny Moore (@Donny_Moore) August 22, 2013"
There will be updates shortly after release and throughout the season, but late signings, preseason and training camp injuries may not be reflected on release day—unless there is an update at launch.
There will obviously be a ton of player movement, but here are some of the happenings that will be reflected in future updates.
Dustin Keller's Injury
With the Miami Dolphins tight end suffering a season-ending knee injury, per Marc Sessler of NFL.com, both Miami's real-life and Madden passing game will take a hit. If you're a really big Keller fan—or you just want to cheat the system—start your Dolphins Connected Franchise before the update or use the default rosters.
Aside from that, you won't be playing with Mr. Keller this season.
Arizona Cardinals Snag Two Veterans
In the retail version, both John Abraham and Eric Winston are free agents. However, the Arizona Cardinals inked both to one-year deals to shore up two weak areas on their team, per Fox News. The Cardinals have only one offensive lineman with an overall rating above 80 on the initial roster.
Winston's 88 overall mark will make him an instant starter for you in Madden 25. Abraham is rated an 89 overall and should also make an immediate impact for the cyber Cards.
Jon Baldwin-A.J. Jenkins Trade
The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers swapped underachieving wide receivers on Aug. 19, per Gregg Rosenthal of NFL.com. With Michael Crabtree on the shelf with an injury, Baldwin is a big receiver who will help the legions of Niners fans that choose to play with San Francisco online.
